Ambush Micro Crawler 3d Printed Bodies (pics and video) Just wanted to share some bodies I printed for my Ambush. The first one, an '80s Toyota Hilux, is a little rough but I learned a lot making it and will probably redo some things to make it print smoother. I made a video running on a quick course I set up with the kids. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCxLQoVLcsw I'll leave the video link and if anyone wants to check out the pics they are still here https://plus.google.com/collection/81dOkB |

Re: Ambush Micro Crawler 3d Printed Bodies (pics and video) Great job on the Yota, I'd have added more filler and smoothed it completely, wouldn't have added that much weight up high. Looking forward to more cool printed bodies! :) |
Re: Ambush Micro Crawler 3d Printed Bodies (pics and video) Yea, there were some other issues with the body that didn't show until it was printed so I knew I was going to want to re-do it. And I didn't have much time and just wanted to get a coat of paint on it. It did add some weight but not much to where it affects how it drives. I noticed the ambush has a 3rd channel. I'm going to have to get some leds and start wiring the bodies for lights. |
Re: Ambush Micro Crawler 3d Printed Bodies (pics and video) If you want a ridiculously smooth finish (and you use ABS), research and try an Acetone Vapour Bath. |
Re: Ambush Micro Crawler 3d Printed Bodies (pics and video) Yes I am aware of vapor smoothing and it is a shame it only works on abs. There are so many better materials. I don't normally use it because it has so many negatives, mainly fumes and warping on large parts. There are ways to smooth other materials but they are either unsafe or expensive so I think printing at a higher resolution and using fillable sandable primer is a better option, especially since they will be painted. |
Re: Ambush Micro Crawler 3d Printed Bodies (pics and video) I am trying to get one of these little crawlers but my local shop tells me "not until October sometime......I want one to crawl in the house with. |

Re: Ambush Micro Crawler 3d Printed Bodies (pics and video) I ordered me one from Proline, be here this week , about the 8th. |
Re: Ambush Micro Crawler 3d Printed Bodies (pics and video) The mega bloks call of duty figures would maybe work. Had one set up with that easy pull off temporary two-sided tape on the battery for a cab forward setup. Looked alright. |
Re: Ambush Micro Crawler 3d Printed Bodies (pics and video) Well I had ordered an Ambush on the 30th from Proline , but just found out today that they are now out of stock so I canceled my order and got one from E-bay....gonna get it on Tues the 11th....can't wait. |
