Default 1/24 scale f350

A while ago my local hs had an Ambush out so we could check it out and try it.. of course I had to buy one impulsively. Since then I have bought a few more to build a few 1/24 scale models with. My first attempt is with a Meng F350 crew cab truck. This kit is very well detailed and I'm excited about building it as a working rc truck. The frame in the it is the same width as the Proline Ambush so I decided to use it even though it is plastic and not nearly as strong as the Ambush's steel counterpart. I removed the axles, springs and shocks from the Ambush as well as the electronics and transmission. Basically I had to remove the F350's front cross member under the engine and shave the front frame rails a bit to get the spring perches and shackles to fit it, then just drilled a few small holes in the frame and bolted the Ambushes axles and spring to it. I did reverse the shackles and perches on the front end as well as flip the perches over as they fit much better this way. The front shocks actually fit the f350 frame perfectly, just had to drill out the holes on the coil buckets a tad... here's a few pics of the progress... Thanks for looking

Thanks guys. Just need to figure out the rear shocks, and mounting of the esc and battery. Also need to decide on colors, I'm leaning towards the new root beer brown and tan on bottom or maroon and tan or gold on bottom...

Ought to get a realistic flex on the frame, looking forward to a video of the completed project

Yeah it is made by Meng, it doesn't give a model year on the box or instructions but it's a 6.4l Powerstroke model so I guess it's 2008-2010 year. It's a very detailed kit even gives you optional wheels for a base model truck and higher model like King Ranch. I have several of these kits but this is the first one I've opened. They also just recently released a Hummer H1 kit as well. I bought 2 of them. The only problem with them is they are expensive kits. The F350 is about 75 ea and the Hummer is 100 ea

Tossed the rest of the bed together and slapped the bumpers and hood on... just test fitting at the moment.

Got the motor mounted to the F350 chassis, notched the interior tub and lengthened the rear driveshaft. The front worked perfectly so far...
