| Ambush LN107 twin cab
G'day all, to start with this probably isn't going to be very well documented but if I take a pic it'll end up here. thought it was about time the ambush got something to set it apart from everyone else's, so after a bit of math from real measurements and a bit of hope they made it exact to scale I ordered this, Aoshima 1/24 LN107 hilux double cab. I picked this variation of the kit mainly because of the many option parts included like spot lights, sliders, rear bar, roll bars and fender flares. Seems it should fit pretty alright at this stage, Bonus is, my math was pretty spot on and the wheelbase and length should work pretty perfect. Width at this stage is slightly too thin but once the flares go on it should be better. My plan (at this stage) is to try and use stock ambush elecs and hopefully make them fit with (or most of) an interior. Not sure if I'll use the tub or make a tray up for it yet but time will tell. Anyway, that's it for now. Happy scales! Last edited by joely; 01-12-2017 at 01:05 AM. |

So far I've stared at for a long while, cut a few holes to get the floor pan to sit on the frame, chopped up the tub a little for the rear shock mounts and got the esc/rx mounted under the tub between chassis rails. Also pretty sure I've worked out how to sort of hide the battery, it may take away a bit of interior but from measurements it shouldn't be too much. And sat the body on to see how it sits, not too shabby! The tub sits a few mm lower then that on properly |

Love the double cab Toyotas, wb and all looks to be great fit, some fender flares will complete it as you said. Take your time cutting the floorboards (as you are) and keep us updated! |

I cannot for the life of me work out where to hide this huge pain in the ass stock battery so I'm thinking lipo replacement. Which leads me to the question, can the li-ion be directly replaced with lipo without having to replace the ESC/RX system? Last edited by joely; 01-12-2017 at 01:54 PM. | Re: Ambush LN107 twin cab i find washing them before makes a lot of difference. I wash mine between every different coat after a light sand. It probably won't come up like I'm hoping but I've given it the best odds I can.

Got a little more done today, hand painted the interior. Not bad for a first go at brushes in ages. 3 hours later I also sprayed the body color but its staying hidden till some detail goes on. Last edited by joely; 01-19-2017 at 03:38 AM. |

If that's a piece of piano wire, you're good to go. Styrene rod is not very strong in that size.

Got a bit more done on the tiny lux lately, So far I'm mostly done other then lights and wiring but still waiting for LEDs, the floor is now screwed to the chassis in its place and the tub is fitted with half the ESC case (it still fits inside!) and the stock body mount to keep it removable. I've also glued in glass, mirrors and sliders, glued the mud flaps and flares to the tub panels but the can't be glued on just yet so they're just taped. And a better shot of the interior, come up better then I expected Last edited by joely; 01-31-2017 at 10:44 PM. |

Very nice! I just picked up a two-door Toyota body from the same manufacturer, so its nice to see a potential look. I would paint the bottom of the fenders to match the fender flares as it looks slightly incomplete with a line of yellow underneath the black. Just my .02 Overall, beautiful crawler.,.,.,. |

I wanted the two door originally but decided the 4 would be easier interested to see how that goes. I also thought that and they are drying as I type. Looks much better Last edited by joely; 01-31-2017 at 11:37 PM. | |
