The Xtra Speed rack came in yesterday and I really like it. Only thing was, out of the bag the inner edge of the mounting pads sit on the outer roof ribs. So I filed the pads to sit on the roof better. I spooged a couple globs of silicone on the bottom of the light, then after they dried, I trimmed them into riser pads and then siliconed the light to the rack. I tilted the light down just a bit. Ran the wires thru the roof by the rack pad .... ... and presto. Now I need to get some stuff on the rack. Thanks for lookin'. Last edited by dr frankenstyle; 10-12-2017 at 11:30 AM. Reason: doh |

| Re: Getting Small...ER , Orlandoo style Thanks , It's just the Orlandoo OH35A01 kit, with some extras .... aluminum shocks, 5-spoke "mags" inside Losi micro Desert Truck wheels and tires, aluminum drive-shafts and the roof rack ... and a little extra paint here and there, and the stuff I made. |

" .... just turn on the light ..." OK, you got me. I guess the sun only sets if I turn off the light. I got a BIG laugh when I read that. Kind of a "duhrr" moment. But I do take it out of the house .... occasionally. It's fun and Thank You

[QUOTE=2mtech;5757928]Dude...you know there's really nothing in your hand...right? Oh, wait...<zoom> HOLY CRAP!! lol. That's pretty cool, but how do you build something you can't see?? Thanks Yeah, I gotta wear the magnifiers nowadays. Reading glasses aren't enough now either. Heck, I can barely see to hook it in the shackle. |

I ordered some scale jerry cans and packs and stuff, so I grabbed the smallest elastic string I could find and 4 little orange wire-nuts .... and made these. The hooks are too small to tie a knot at the ends, so I pulled the elastic thru and melted the end with a bic'. Then I super-glued them and pulled the ends back into the hooks. They're a little over-scale, but they'll work for the roof rack. With stuff under 'em, I think they'll be OK. |

I posted a "how-to" for 'em in "scale accessories" back then, it's still there. C'mon now, get on that winch and then show us.

Geez, man. I respect all the attention to detail! My fat fingers had a hard enough time with the little screws building the kit. Nice work!

I know what you mean, I wish this stuff had been around when I was young. Besides the hands, the fading eyesight doesn't help either. Thanks again. ..... and "stay tuned".

I wanted to try a little lift-kit for the Yeep, so I ordered in an extra set of shock mounts to mod'. I filed out notches in the mounts and epoxied some .060 styrene into them. That gave me "plates" to drill new holes where I wanted. I went with 2mm, right at 2-3/4 scale inches. I drilled extra holes in the rears, just in case. I went 2mm more than the slight lift I had already done in the back, so the rear is about 3mm over stock height. And during this surgery, I broke off the drivers mirror ... AGAIN. So I drilled the stem back out and drilled the lens housing for a straight-pin. Now it swivels instead of breaking off. It didn't lift it much, but just enough to get a bit more tire clearance and a little longer "legs" on the "rocks". Tell me what you all think, and thanks for checkin' it out. Tune in next time, boys and girls, for more fun and adventure. |
