The Xtra Speed rack came in yesterday and I really like it. Only thing was, out of the bag the inner edge of the mounting pads sit on the outer roof ribs. So I filed the pads to sit on the roof better.

I spooged a couple globs of silicone on the bottom of the light, then after they dried, I trimmed them into riser pads and then siliconed the light to the rack.

I tilted the light down just a bit. Ran the wires thru the roof by the rack pad ....

... and presto.

Now I need to get some stuff on the rack.

Thanks for lookin'.

Thanks , It's just the Orlandoo OH35A01 kit, with some extras .... aluminum shocks, 5-spoke "mags" inside Losi micro Desert Truck wheels and tires, aluminum drive-shafts and the roof rack ... and a little extra paint here and there, and the stuff I made.

Boy, smacked back to the real world, huh. Fun SPOILER !!
" .... just turn on the light ..."
OK, you got me. I guess the sun only sets if I turn off the light.
I got a BIG laugh when I read that. Kind of a "duhrr" moment.
But I do take it out of the house .... occasionally.

It's fun
and Thank You

OK, here we go. I need to do a leetle more filin' .....

.... then glue the pins in, but here's the gist of 'em.

The winch hook may be a bit trickier.

Thanks for lookin' and likin'.

And now ... for the rest of the story. I grabbed another scrap of aluminum and made this.

It took a bit more figgerin' and a lot more filin', but it kinda puts the lipstick on for the kiss, huh.

I still need to get stuff in the rack.

Stay tuned.

Thanks Yeah, I gotta wear the magnifiers nowadays. Reading glasses aren't enough now either. Heck, I can barely see to hook it in the shackle.

I ordered some scale jerry cans and packs and stuff, so I grabbed the smallest elastic string I could find and 4 little orange wire-nuts .... and made these.

The hooks are too small to tie a knot at the ends, so I pulled the elastic thru and melted the end with a bic'. Then I super-glued them and pulled the ends back into the hooks.
They're a little over-scale, but they'll work for the roof rack.

With stuff under 'em, I think they'll be OK.

That's fantastically simple and cool. I found some micro paracord to use as 1:10 synthetic winch line if I can ever get unlazy and my winch mounted. Cheaper than braided fishing line, too.

Thanks The idea hit me a couple years ago. I had finished my 10th scale boat trailer and made a cover for the boat. I wanted some scale bungees for it, but all the ones I could find were too big and the hooks aren't realistic enough. So I decided to make some. I've worked with electrical for years and when I was thinking of things to use, I remembered the little conical coils inside wire-nuts. So I split one open, did some clippin' and bendin', added the elastic string and badabing .... the results speak for themselves.
I posted a "how-to" for 'em in "scale accessories" back then, it's still there.
C'mon now, get on that winch and then show us.

Geez, man. I respect all the attention to detail! My fat fingers had a hard enough time with the little screws building the kit. Nice work!

Thanks I really enjoy detailin' 'em.
I know what you mean, I wish this stuff had been around when I was young. Besides the hands, the fading eyesight doesn't help either.
Thanks again.

..... and "stay tuned".

I wanted to try a little lift-kit for the Yeep, so I ordered in an extra set of shock mounts to mod'. I filed out notches in the mounts and epoxied some .060 styrene into them.

That gave me "plates" to drill new holes where I wanted. I went with 2mm, right at 2-3/4 scale inches.

I drilled extra holes in the rears, just in case. I went 2mm more than the slight lift I had already done in the back, so the rear is about 3mm over stock height.

And during this surgery, I broke off the drivers mirror ... AGAIN. So I drilled the stem back out and drilled the lens housing for a straight-pin.

Now it swivels instead of breaking off.

It didn't lift it much, but just enough to get a bit more tire clearance and a little longer "legs" on the "rocks".
Tell me what you all think, and thanks for checkin' it out.

Tune in next time, boys and girls, for more fun and adventure.

Aw c'mon, you wouldn't be cheating on yourself or anything. You can still say the Trekker is your favorite.

Get 'em ... build 'em ... post 'em up.
