Yea they claim 1/18 body and 1/24 axles for some reason. Even though they look a bit large even for 1/18

That's not what I meant. I meant nothing about the axle looks 1/24. I think it's just listed that way because they aren't suitable at all for typical 1/18 RC based on 1.55's. they are better suited for a true 1/18 or 1/20 which isn't very popular so they just called it 1/24 because it's the most popular that's close in size. IMO the ghekko24 is where a 1/24 axle should be at.

Yea that would need an extra 30mm. Not ideal.
Btw did you ever mount those Scramblers on the WL?

Yes but I’ve since broken a driveshaft horsing around with a bigger motor. I have the GAZ one coming and this one coming. After seeing the 4 link on this one I will just move this drivetrain to the B1, leave the GAZ be for now, and find some mini axles and a tranny for this one. If it’ll work that way. I had swung by my LHS looking for Losi mini balls and cups but they didn’t have any. I did figure out that the Dromida balls and cups are basically the same just not sold without a shock tower or something another. So when I see how the 4 link mounts, I’ll duplicate it or at least improve on it when swapping it over.

Sounds involved but should be a good lazy afternoon worth of work if I’ve got all the parts handy.

If you're able to do some fabrication I'd say go with Sumo crawler axles extended. This will give you the width you want, a nice small scaleish pumpkin, and you could even have a front offset pumpkin.the sumo axles are pretty damn stout too

Default Wpl c14

I’ve got an HBX clone of the sumo drivetrain I’ve been looking at swapping the tranny into one of these with. Those axles are a 2 in to 1 out roughly whereas the WPL axles are 7 in to 3 out (2.3:1). It’d slow it down some. I have another China crawler that has a worm gear drivetrain and they’re about 11.5:1. But that’d be too slow.

I’ll look into the Redcat axle extension when I get some time. According to HorizonHobby the ECX 1/18 Temper is 170mm with the wheels on. The Redcat E16 is 133mm hex to hex and it’s supposed to be compatible with the ECX. The ECX axles aren’t to be found solo on the fleaBay though. And the E16 is a rear steer setup so it’d need lock outs and shafts to eliminate that. It just keeps circling back around in my head which way to go. Ima put these on hold until I can get this new 4 linked one and see if I wanna keep these chinsy axles. Then there’s the 5mm hex issue vs 7mm with a mini or micro axle. 1” or 1.55/1.7” wheels. Then the tire sizes to keep it somewhat scale. If only it was a little bigger or a little smaller......

I picked up one of the wraith clones and they are well worth the money. Parts would be nice though, thinking about buying a second to do a 4ws setup.

Will have one of them yota's soon also..

If they could've released this a month ago..... yeesh. I think I'll wait for a sale or when these other two projects are done. These look like awesome project cars - they may be cheap, but it'll take a lot of fab or $ to get them up to par.

I believe the kit only comes with a servo and motor. You'll need a cheap 10a ESC and your Tx/Rx of choice then should be in business. From what I've heard on other sites is there is plenty of room under the hood for all that and a decent sized battery. We'll see in a few weeks.

If this is the case, I will be interested to see which ESC/battery people are choosing.

Just ordered a red RTR one from gearbest with code rc18off for $31 or so out the door shipped to california.

Worst case, I've got a spare tiny esc and extra rx for my normal tx if the rtr stuff is junk, but it was only $2 more for rtr from them.

I've heard the kit comes with a better servo. This is second-hand information though, so who knows. I went with the kit just to save the lousy $2.

I love how we're all buying them up without knowing any details (myself included). It makes it even more exciting to see what shows up because right now I honestly don't know what I just bought.
