I couldn’t find any locally so I went to fleaBay. Ordered on Dec 30, 2018. It arrived yesterday on Jan 29, 2019. It’s about .5mm wider than the WPL springs but I can easily make them fit.

Now to figure out how to make springs and get it all fit together just right.

After watching this YT video I decided I want 3s in my truck. At the moment I am limited to 2s by my ESC ( Novak Spy ).

I need an advice: what to upgrade ESC to?

I have seen hobbywing 1060 mention couple of times here. 'But wait! for just a few dollars more' one can have brushless system like this:FastWin 2845 3930KV 4P Sensorless Brushless Motor & 35A Brushless ESC . What do you guys think? If not that one which one? kV number recommendation? What to look for? I dont really want it to look like that one. I want it to be able to crawl and be decently fast in 2nd gear. Thank you

Find a Tekin B1R brushed. For micro crawling there is nothing better IMO.

I wish I could video mine for you, I'm running the Hobbywing 1625 esc with the 2 speed and 370 motor on 3s and it's plenty fast in high and crawls great in low, the 1625 doesn't have a drag brake but low gear will hold the truck surprisingly decent. I have a 1060 to try just haven't got around to it yet since this is working so well.

Mine is finished now and it's a lot bigger than I thought. It's closer in size to my 1/12 scale than my 1/18 scale trucks. I already like it the way it is but I still want to upgrade to the 2 speed, once I get a tx that has a 3rd channel toggle switch. Like i said before, I had my eye on a used GT3B. I saw this video of a brushless c24 getting rowdy in a baseball field.

Here's a little peek of my C14 coming soon, gotta make a couple brackets and waiting on a few parts.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...2a65d0ab2b.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...52bab30f12.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...541fa173be.jpg

Re: WPL C14

I tried to make new leaf springs out of a pull start recoil spring but they have zero flex in them. Basically I would be making a brick. So I scrapped the project after just two springs. Perhaps on a larger and heavier rig they would work.

So I went back to the web to order several sets of WPL leaves and came across this. This may work for what I want.

Mine came the same way. Plastic ring gear with a brass pinion. I ordered mine off eBay though a couple weeks ago. It has the updated tan transmission too. It also was missing one of the axle trusses. I ordered this leaf spring kit, and I'm gonna fit it on there to try to get a more scale look going. Also got a 2 speed trans on the way.

I'm using the Tower Pro MG90S, and found a sweet holder for it on thingiverse.

I ordered that set on eBay today for $23.99 free shipping from the US.

Those look like they would work, I still think the straight frame rails may work better but who knows, I just got the B1 kit so I'm gonna see how the Yota body works on it, I'll let you know, I know the cab will mount up but I don't think battery tray will work without modification.

I just took mine out for a little play in the mud. I found out the hard way that there is nothing stopping the outside from getting inside the differentials. I finished rebuilding it and added some grease around the seals for extra protection. And, yes I got the brass ring and nylon pinion along with the tan gearbox. That's how the updated version comes I guess.

Since there was no enthusiasm for brushless setup I have ordered 1625 ESC. I wanted 1060 but it was out of stock so I was switching items last minute and by mistake ordered wrong one... My diffs started clicking, I figured it is time for major overhaul. So far nothing fits: metal driveshafts do not fit on 2 speed transmission neither on diffs out drives. Everything is a 16th to long and a touch too thick. 2 speed with replaced servo interferes with rear suspension. Just awesome fun to deal with all of those one at the time...

Which driveshafts did you get? Mine fits great with 2spd. I have the one that look like CV joints. If you have metal links you'll have to reshape them to look like the stock plastic links.

The 1625 with the 2spd works great, just be sure to solder at least one capacitor on the 370 motor or it runs glitchy, 3 capacitors is ideal. It will hold on a steep hill in low gear like a drag brake.

Here is driveshaft I've got:https://i.imgur.com/mkBL7yVm.jpg It fits on one transmission out drive but not the other. Nothing a bit of dremeling cant fix.

I dont have a picture of servo horn touching suspension link. What I will try to do is reverse the servo, shorten the shifting fork and have shorter spring ( mini -z spare ). I hope to put it back together over the weekend.

I have it back in one piece :)

New rear diff internals with brass spur gear, metal driveshafts, 2 speed, 3s lipo, 1625 ESC. It took some machining and fiddling in drive line. No kidding those grub screws are serious issue as my shafts came apart several times during testing. I know I am overly excited with details as I am quite casual hobbyist.

Few problems took me by surprise - like ESC brake working in reverse and reverse seemed faster than forward. I had to switch motor wires and set throttle channel as Reversed.

Here is a photo of transmission servo clearing suspension links. Easy to imagine them interfering in out of the box layout.

I am quite satisfied with speed range and overall snappiness of the setup. On hardwood floor I could almost drift. But I may look for a better 370 motor with better magnets. My magnetized screwdriver was able to pull screw of off motor casing. I think that means good 370 can have higher top speed and better low end torque over stock one.

I've seen in several different places on the web that those driveshafts just don't cut it in the long run, the CD style work much better, but if they're working for you that's great!

I really want to find an 80's or 90's 4runner body that will fit on my c14, Or a Mitsu Pajero 2.8. Any ideas? I Googled "1/16 4runner" and found nothing. I am also really curious if you can fit a small brushless motor in with the 2 speed tranny.

I'm not sure about bodies, ebay is a good place for finding those. I believe they make brushless 370 motors but I don't see the need for one in these little trucks but hey I've seen a few on YouTube and they seem to work and look fun if you want that kind of speed, the brushed 370 motor on 3s is plenty fast for me.
