I love how we're all buying them up without knowing any details (myself included). It makes it even more exciting to see what shows up because right now I honestly don't know what I just bought. :lmao:

yeah I saw the thread over on rcgroups by the guy in China who made the videos of the truck on youtube in the drainage ditch. Servo's are cheap and easy to swap if that's the case. I think the truck is certainly worth $30 just as a drive-able display model, it looks rad!

I couldn’t resist either, just ordered up the “kit”. Can pull the radio, etc from my VMG(two!) that sits unloved.

I'm guessing and mostly hoping that the kit would be set up to mount the 3 wire conventional servo whereas the RTR is not. It wasn't hard to mod on the B-1 though. I little knife work and it fit decent. I did Gorilla Glue it down vs sorting some sort of way to bolt or strap it in place.

Here's an idea: take the body and offer it up to a ECX Barrage or FTX Outback.
Make it look like a TF2 on wraith axles

Here's a brand new review of the RTR. Something tells me there aren't any of these trucks in the USA yet.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4DZsM6CJzU

I ordered a FlySky receiver, a small 30A Hobbywing ESC (meant for planes I think) and a cheap 6V NIMH battery pack. From what I've read, that should be all I need for whenever the kit finally arrives.

Was that a NiCd battery? I had no idea those were still made. :lmao:

Don't most plane and heli ESCs lack reverse?

If this pic is correct I’ll be going all in with some china gear.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...8c2d6e612f.jpg

This is basically a Sumo clone for less than $50.

Then add some of Fungi’s offset wheels should bring it flush or a little past flush.

Re: WPL C14

I thought this truck uses the same axles as the other 1/16 WL trucks?
Either way the crawler you posted isn't a sumo clone. It's a Losi micro clone.
It has worm gear axles and is supposedly identical to the ECX and HSP version.
For sumo axles look for the redcat sumo, 1/24 Reely, HBX devastor, or even the new 1/24 barrage which has axles with identical dimensions and the same ring gear as the sumo.
All of these are only 4" wide however. I'd think going an extra inch and a half would give you a horrible scrub radius.
The RC4WD 1/18 mini gelande yota 2's are an extra 1/4" over the sumo, but still seems short. If anything I'd widen the sumo/HBX/Barrage axles. That would give a more true to scale pumpkin. There may still be pix of the mod in the micro crawler sub forum

I couldn’t find the pics. Well, that one is on order anyway. I do have the HBX one, too.

Oh no, you may be right! It says it has brake but no mention of reverse.

I ordered one of these (link) just in case. Nothing but the finest $4 electronics for this truck

If nothing else works out I'll get one of these (pictured) because I know they work and they're still less than $10. Seems like overkill for this application though, and I wanted to try something different.

I have a similar version of that red 30amp esc, but it's listed as 10amp. I doubt it's 30amp
I also use the $8 or so xys-bl20a "without brake" which does have a brake, it just means it has no reverse delay
These are great for micro crawlers.

The big one is too big. Maybe if you dehoused it, it might tuck away somewhere but it's overkill. That'll push a light 540 buggy and is good on 380 cans.

This one is the one to get. The non switched version of what is linked. The switch is fine but could possibly limit the mountable areas. I tried one in a Losi McRC and it was slightly more difficult to mount vs the non switched between the chassis plates and tranny. Doable, but not necessary.

Re: WPL C14

Yeah mine are the non switched version, but the switch on the board is to toggle between reverse delay on or off I'm told. The actual power switch can be removed like any other ESC

You're talking about the small switch on the edge of the board, right? What does that switch do? I ask because I'm expecting it to show up without instructions.

Fwiw for those that haven't seen the xys before. Left to right

Correct. I ended up using that switched one I had on a Losi McRally using a n60 heli tail rotor motor and a Maisto Samba van. Enough torque to jump diff gears full throttle take off. Not very good off the hardpack though.
