Finally got mine today. Waited almost a month. They sent me a free "gift" of a cheap crappy screwdriver which arrived before my kit was even shipped. My box was munched pretty good but it all seems to be in one piece. Thinking about hitting the cab with some plastic model paint to make it unique. Gotta get my 3D printer going again for spare parts, after I fix an oil pan leak on the pickup to finish the motor swap. This kit might wait a couple weeks. Don't even have an ESC or receiver for it yet.

Met with a setback using the small hardware. Ended up robbing some bolts out of a spare set of beadlocks to get the shocks mounted. The 1/18 Gelande shocks are short to be functional so now sourcing another set. Need to figure out something for upper link material. I need to round up a proper, yet cheap, mini servo also. Assuming the stocker doesn’t have enough ass to turn the wheels.

Not this vendor, but it’s the same Chinese transfercase. Apparently copied from the GCM one.

No wonder these things are so cheap, there's no rust-proofing at all.

just got mine in yesterday. I got the rtr...no battery included though. the tires are really hard. I wish I had just ordered the kit since I'm going to try putting the slickrock drivetrain and electronics into it. I'm going to see if they'll refund me anything for the missing battery too.

ebayed a pair of batteries and now im all in for about 75.00.. Still thrilled at the cost..

Looks great.. - New to "scaling" rigs.. How did you get the body to deform? Small torch? and how about the rust treatment-- is that just paint? sorry for all the ?'s..

Thanks. This was the first time I deformed a hardbody and a simple candle worked really well. For rust I use this kit (below) I got from a local hobby shop. Its cool because it uses metal powder which gives you actual rust. I also used several different types of paint to get it looking dirty. Weathering stuff is fun because there's no right way to do it and the only goal is for it to come out looking terrible

Default Wpl c14

My hand fab chassis wasn’t working out for me. So I Dremeled off those tabs and used the original chassis plates.

I had cut the front half to tuck higher under the hood and over the fenderwells but I couldn’t bring myself to order some 60mm 1:10 scale shocks to maybe make it work.

1/18 Gelande shocks direct to frame.

Scored some 1.55 RC4WD beadlocks recently and I’m hoping they’ll mount to the Yeti Jr. tires. Now patiently waiting for my m2 die to arrive from China. Maybe next week, maybe next month. LOL. Cheap build is getting drawn out because I want the $2 China die and not the $20 Amazon Prime die.

Edit:

Forgot about the servo I found in my junk boxes. I think it’ll do OK.

I'm thinking about making a skid plate that will mount to the frame using the 4 lower link mount points on the frame and then putting the transfer case on that and then motor and trans up front.

watching this thread. are the wheels held on with nuts or screws or what. I am just trying to get an idea on how this thing is held together before maybe picking up a kit. looks fun. I seen the ecx barrage and thought it looked cool but these have a way better scale body

All screws. Plastic everywhere. For the cost of the WPL trucks you cannot complain though. Its dirt cheap to buy but puts a smile on your face when you get half decent electronics in them.

Any plastic paint should work. Tamiya has a large variety of colors as do the large cans at any big box store.

It’s not the ideal setup but there isn’t any side to side slop. Having only 10mm of shock travel the angles don’t mean much either.
