WPL C14

Somehow this slipped in on us. I’ve got one on order but don’t know any details asides from the pics.

I think i saw that one in a Facebook group. Pretty sure it's 1/10 and looks like it. Either way definitely not a micro crawler

Honestly depending on the price even for a 1/10 it's at least a great source of a body and Scale accessories. Maybe even the chassis

Re: Wpl c14

I assumed it was smaller in size, more like the B-1. I figured it was the same thing with a different body. If it's 1/10, that's a hell of a deal!

Looking closely at the pics, some of the components don't appear to be sized right for 1/10. The dogbones in the knuckles, some of the end links, etc. I still think this is around the same size as the B1.

EDIT: Gearbest is calling it 1/16, so I think it will be around the same size as the B-1.

Jim85IROC 12-21-2017 06:59 AM

Re: Wpl c14

Ok, I spent more time looking at it. It looks like it uses the same axles as the B-1, and is the same overall size. It looks like they've converted to a 3 link with shocks, but I can't see coil springs on those shocks. Most likely it's a friction shock with an internal spring.

Unfortunately I can't seem to find any pics that detail the under side to see whether it's still got the toy grade steering, but I assume it does.

spoo76 12-21-2017 07:09 AM

Re: Wpl c14

Hmm. If that's the case that would be interesting for a new body, even if it's an odd 1/16 size

Just ordered a red one. I'd been waffling on a B-1 for a while now, and having one with a truck body and no leaf springs is all it took to put me over the edge.

Re: Wpl c14

Forgot to mention use code RC18off at Gearbest and it’ll save a few dollars. It’s a 1:16 based off that drivetrain of the others.

Re: Wpl c14

Oh, I didn't realize its the same price. I'm not normally interested in 1/16, but at that price it's worth it even for just the body and Scale items.

You guys really hate my paypal account, couldn't resist, ordered a yellow rtr and a red kit version that I assume is going to make a great home for an mrc pro rollers drivetrain I've had sitting for quite a few years

If the body width is the same as the WPL B1 it’ll be around +/-130to134mm. Those Losi Mini axles are around 140mm if my notes are correct.

There’s a 1/18 Wraith clone out there that I’m waiting for parts to possibly be released on that may be more scale. But the 1ton axles would be a fun looking rig, too.

I looked at the kit version but it was the same price as the RTR. I'm not building it myself if it's the same price!

Couldn’t resist it either, ordered a red kit. I thought building it will keep me busy, and I might be able to perhaps upgrade some things.
Also ordered a 10A ESC, so if I do not like the supplied Tx, I can use my own one as it will probably have an ESC with integrated Rx. Could not find much info on it.
Does anybody know what size battery it will take?

I have to measure my Mini Gelande 2 axles. I think with hex extensions the mini yota 2's would look and fit great.

I got this in my notes.
Yota II/Gelande II - 1/18
-92.2mm/3.6"

FWIW, they(rc4wd) call it a 1:24 axle

Cool 1/16th truck, id be interested in one for at least the body!

Yea they claim 1/18 body and 1/24 axles for some reason. Even though they look a bit large even for 1/18

That's not what I meant. I meant nothing about the axle looks 1/24. I think it's just listed that way because they aren't suitable at all for typical 1/18 RC based on 1.55's. they are better suited for a true 1/18 or 1/20 which isn't very popular so they just called it 1/24 because it's the most popular that's close in size. IMO the ghekko24 is where a 1/24 axle should be at.

Yea that would need an extra 30mm. Not ideal.
Btw did you ever mount those Scramblers on the WL?

Yes but I’ve since broken a driveshaft horsing around with a bigger motor. I have the GAZ one coming and this one coming. After seeing the 4 link on this one I will just move this drivetrain to the B1, leave the GAZ be for now, and find some mini axles and a tranny for this one. If it’ll work that way. I had swung by my LHS looking for Losi mini balls and cups but they didn’t have any. I did figure out that the Dromida balls and cups are basically the same just not sold without a shock tower or something another. So when I see how the 4 link mounts, I’ll duplicate it or at least improve on it when swapping it over.

Sounds involved but should be a good lazy afternoon worth of work if I’ve got all the parts handy.

Re: Wpl c14

If you're able to do some fabrication I'd say go with Sumo crawler axles extended. This will give you the width you want, a nice small scaleish pumpkin, and you could even have a front offset pumpkin.the sumo axles are pretty damn stout too

I’ve got an HBX clone of the sumo drivetrain I’ve been looking at swapping the tranny into one of these with. Those axles are a 2 in to 1 out roughly whereas the WPL axles are 7 in to 3 out (2.3:1). It’d slow it down some. I have another China crawler that has a worm gear drivetrain and they’re about 11.5:1. But that’d be too slow.

I’ll look into the Redcat axle extension when I get some time. According to HorizonHobby the ECX 1/18 Temper is 170mm with the wheels on. The Redcat E16 is 133mm hex to hex and it’s supposed to be compatible with the ECX. The ECX axles aren’t to be found solo on the fleaBay though. And the E16 is a rear steer setup so it’d need lock outs and shafts to eliminate that. It just keeps circling back around in my head which way to go. Ima put these on hold until I can get this new 4 linked one and see if I wanna keep these chinsy axles. Then there’s the 5mm hex issue vs 7mm with a mini or micro axle. 1” or 1.55/1.7” wheels. Then the tire sizes to keep it somewhat scale. If only it was a little bigger or a little smaller......

I picked up one of the wraith clones and they are well worth the money. Parts would be nice though, thinking about buying a second to do a 4ws setup.

Will have one of them yota's soon also..

If they could've released this a month ago..... yeesh. I think I'll wait for a sale or when these other two projects are done. These look like awesome project cars - they may be cheap, but it'll take a lot of fab or $ to get them up to par.

I believe the kit only comes with a servo and motor. You'll need a cheap 10a ESC and your Tx/Rx of choice then should be in business. From what I've heard on other sites is there is plenty of room under the hood for all that and a decent sized battery. We'll see in a few weeks.

If this is the case, I will be interested to see which ESC/battery people are choosing.

Just ordered a red RTR one from gearbest with code rc18off for $31 or so out the door shipped to california.

Worst case, I've got a spare tiny esc and extra rx for my normal tx if the rtr stuff is junk, but it was only $2 more for rtr from them.

I've heard the kit comes with a better servo. This is second-hand information though, so who knows. I went with the kit just to save the lousy $2.

I love how we're all buying them up without knowing any details (myself included). It makes it even more exciting to see what shows up because right now I honestly don't know what I just bought. :lmao:
