Default 1957 Corvette Gasser 1/20 scale

I have decided to make an oddball little scaler out of spare parts I had lying around. I like to collect parts, so that’s not a problem. Awhile back I ran across some 1/20 scale 1957 corvette push toys on eBay, so I bought them. I started looking around at the parts I had and realized I could easily throw together a little Gasser, so that’s what I did. Anyways, here’s an inspiration pic, a pic of the original toy, and some mock-up pics.

The front axle is a 1/24 big rig axle I found off Banggood awhile back, and the front springs are off the servo savers from Trail Trekker servo’s. The rear axle is a Redcat Sumo mounted to a cut up Trekker frame, and the rear springs are from a Losi micro SCT. Here are some build picks.

And that’s about where she’s at now. She’s at roller status at least! Here’s a couple more pics.

Nice. I’ve got a diecast c10 of similar size I’ve bought years ago as a shelf queen. This could be a cool build for it as well.

A diecast gasser, now that would definitely be an ankle breaker!

Not much work on the Gasser tonight, but I did mess around with motor placement. I’m thinking I’ll use a Losi tranny, Orlandoo steel driveshafts, and a carrier bearing I made for an old project. This way I can still use the interior. I’m still debating on whether to go brushless or not.

Lol. Looking good. Makes me want to drag out the half completed slot car conversion I started a few years back.

awesome project! I did something like that with a micro highroller and a revell 1/25 truck. it was pretty fun. the way you have your motor and drive shafts mounted up is way cooler though.

Got a little more done on this little guy today. I got the transmission and the carrier bearing in place and mounted up. I’ll give her a test run tomorrow after I charge up some batteries.

1st test run was a success. If I can find a cheap brushless esc I might convert it over. I have a brushless motor lying around, but no esc. A little more speed would be nice. Now it’s on to fit the interior and hide the electronics.

Thanks for the link. I saw those on fleabay last night, but they were twice the price. I’m glad I didn’t order! I think I might try it out, because brushless power would be perfect for this little thing. I also think I need to find a nice blown motor to stick on this thing, that way it looks mean like the inspiration pic. I still haven’t decided on a color either. I could leave it pink, or I have a red shell also, or I’m not opposed to tearing it apart for paint. Maybe a flat black?

Well, I’m getting a little off track, but I got some wheels and tires in for another build. I just had to do some mock-ups! It’s a 1/20 scale ‘52 Chevy COE that I custom ordered off Shapeways. I’m going to build it as a hauler for the gasser (as well as all my other vehicles). But more to come on that later.
