I fixed this by placing a very small O-ring between the shock and the frame, it works fine as there is basically no shock movement during the full travel. Stops the rattling and lets the shock move what little it needs to.

The stock shocks are 60mm with 14mm of travel, but just 45mm 'ball to ball' as they mount in the middle of the shock. Those are only 33/7, which IMHO is too little. The closest size that would fit as is I've found are the Losi 1/24 micro crawler shocks (43/9.5), but the springs on those would be useless trying to hold a WPL up.
Though, some of the upgrade items on BangGood have these pictures, but I have not been able to track them down unless they are the WLToys upgrades, which are around 60mm ball to ball bringing the COG way too high to be drivable.

I think the reasonable solution would be figuring out a mount that would allow using longer regular shocks without affecting the ride height too much, as anything this small is pretty much useless.

I wanted to make shock hoops and run longer shocks. I’ll see if I wanna get that far into this thing.

Some upgrades showed up today including the 2 speed. I took a side by side picture of the new esc compared to the castle to show the size difference. More updates to come.

Nice! What castle esc is that? It's tiny. I have same esc as that other one.

I was thinking the same on the shocks. Just 3d print myself some hangers

It’s a mamba micro x. It’s pretty small but just a lil to tall.

Will that do brushed?
I've been trying to research other options for escs in case these little ones suck. I habe one out of a latrax I converted to brushless but it's a little bulky

My upgrades showed up today! Maybe after I lift I might build some. Still waiting on rx.

Have you opened that 2 speed up and seen what it's like in there?

Yes the castle esc does do brushed motors it even does sensored motors. I did open up the 2 speed it’s actually designed nicely just to bad the gears are plastic. One nice thing about it is that it comes with a new better motor the is mounted using screws instead of a press fit like the stock tranny. I’ve been super busy all week and thru this weekend I’m booked won’t be able to wrench on the rig till Monday.

No the motor just bolts to the tranny case with no adjustment. Might be able to slot out the mounting holes tho.

Little update, I found time to work on this project again and actually got the truck running. Right away I noticed how bad the steering was even with a real servo and I just noticed today that the steering is so bad because of the half a$$ stock cms set up. with no room to really make a pan hard mount I decided to mount the servo on the axle. The steering so much better now.

I'll get some pictures up soon.

The two speed is awsome! I got one for my c24. Only problem is all my wheels have a fair bit of wobble which makes it drive weird. Also I got the metal link upgrade but with the two speed tranny the rear metal links don't work unfortunately.

All you gotta do to make the link set work with the 2 speed is mount the shift servo upside down so the servo horn is closest to the tranny then put the suspension link on the out side of the chassis rails.

Man, I've been contemplating whether or not to get one of these. They look like fun.

They are sweet rigs ounce you build em all up. I wish I never bought my 1/18 rc4wd, I haven't even touched that thing since I discovered these WPLs. If you do order one at the same time get all the upgrades that way you get everything at ounce and not have to spend months building it.

I’ve got some Mini T shocks and thought about that very mod. What driveshafts are those?

there is no driveshaft or tranny in the chassis in that picture in waiting for my dual motor set up, but I have black steel driveshafts for it and also a pair of black chrome looking shafts. The black ones look very similar to the stockers.
