Exactly, especially the smaller more true to scale 1/18 like the mini Gelande vs the old Losi mini. It looks like swapping the outter ends of these axles back to CR-24 or Barrage/RGT would make these perfect for all the 1/20 bodies available.

It’d be feasible to swap just a single side/half shaft and have an offset pumpkin?

Maybe if you made new link mounts, otherwise it wouldn't actually offset anyting. The actual difference in width isn't actually very much anyway. I'd say 2-3mm each side

They mentioned these upgrades during talks about the upcoming 1/18, but I didn't think they'd announce it so soon. I'm told that higher turn motor may end up in the 1/18.
I can't wait haha

Default AsiaTees 1/24 Hobby Plus CR-24 & new 1/18th scale!!

I’d like a crack at that motor, too.

Any estimated axle width for the 1/18?

I don't have numbers, but from the pictures you can tell where it's widened and how much. Looks like it's just a few MM each side which puts it around the 1/18 your 2 axles

After having run my CR-24 about 15 times over the last couple months I have nothing but good to say about it and that means a lot because I am extremely critical. Seeing the 1/18 pics on Facebook has me real excited. Will have get one for sure. These guys are killing it for the price point and hope they just grow with more options. Many other manufactures have lost their way as far as I am concerned.

Dear, I have a RGT 1/24 and I am very happy with it, but seeing the comments on the CR-24 in the forum I have been excited about that.
I have several questions:

1- 1- One has a 030 engine and the other 050. Why this difference? which is better?
2- The gearboxes are different and are oriented in the opposite direction. Can you put a CR-24 transfer case to the RGT adventurer?
3- Could it be achieved only in transmitter in case of failure? but what radio / receiver / EXC do you suggest to replace it?
Thank you.

In the pictures included the RGT/FTX/Barrage motor is on the left, the middle is the puny motor in the Carisma MSA-1E, motor size on the right is used in all brushed Losi Micros/Trail Trekker, Proline Ambush, ECX Temper, RC4WD Mini Gelande, and some others.

The 050 in the RGT/Barrage is just a longer version of the 030 used in almost every other micro crawler available. In theory it can make more torque, but the RGT/Barrage transmission doesn't have enough gear reduction. The CR-24 transmission and 030 motor gives more torque and better throttle control than the RGT with a longer 050.

Yes the entire CR-24 transmission will bolt into the RGT/Barrage If you also use the CR-24 skid plate.

As far as the electronics, stock replacements are cheap, but many people use the China 20amp ESCs like the XYS-BL20A. For a transmitter and receiver nearly any will do, but if you plan to run more than one RC and would like 3 channels or more I recommend the FlySky GT3B and GT3C

Another potential option that I suspect will what most people will go with is the electronics package from HobbyPlus.

Here's a few pictures to show what I'm talking about. The axle centers are the same, but they used wider C hubs and rear lockouts, and of course outter shafts. This way you get extra width, without the weird steering scrub angles when you extend after the knuckle like the Trail Trekker or with extended hex wideners.
First picture is the new axle from what I'll assume is called the CR-18, second is the CR-24 notice the space between the back of the Carrier hub and the clamp that holds it to the axle? In the second picture you'll see the CR-24 doesn't have that gap.
The 3rd picture shows CR-24 axles compared to RC4WD 1/18 Mini Gelande 2 mini Yota 2 axles (which RC4WD oddly calls 1/24)
The distance is already just a few mm difference, it looks like the new 1/18 axles will be very close.
The last picture just points out the longer rear links and driveshaft, but also that the skid plate is forward biased.

Am I reading that correctly? 3 wire servo?? This opens up more options if the upgraded esc is 3 wire, right?

Yes, the kit was made for those who wanted to upgrade to a standard 3 wire servo and a better ESC. It also comes with a receiver that binds to the existing TX and a higher turn motor. I believe that motor may be the same 88t 030 thats coming in the new SCX24

Haha, there have been a few threads on it already. I had mine pre ordered right away.
It's probably going to be a popular vehicle in the micro scene just based on the Axial name and advertising power they have.
Even if the performance was no better than the Trekker was the more scale C channel chassis and wheelbase 3mm longer than the Mini Gelande will open up some options for scale 1/24 bodies, however those huge tires will make then all look like monster trucks. The smaller Barrage/RGT, CR-24 wheels would probably look more scale.

Even though I have one pre ordered I'm most excited about the upcoming CR-18.
Widened CR-24 axles with a chassis that looks longer than the mini Gelande with some cool 1/18 bodies promised. IMO that setup with CR-24 axles or at least the more narrow knuckles and lockouts will also make for a great 1/20 chassis and both scales will look perfect with all the existing wheel and tire combos

After two months, the CR24's I ordered have finally arrived. I really thought I could use this Pajero body from a Fujimi kit in my stash - maybe with a bit of work... either the Fujimi is too small or the CR24 is a tad too big for a 1/24?

^^^ 1/20 bodies fit that better. RGT has a silver Jeep like body that will fit. Good luck.
