Will this work ok and hold up to young kid abuse stock? Kids are 5 and 7. Or would a 1/24 Barrage be better? Thanks!

Honestly, the rtr's are pretty crappy, the kits are significantly better, but still very "toy grade." The big upside for your situation is that they're cheap enough to be disposable, don't make enough power to break themselves, yet should at least work well enough to gauge your kids' interest before coughing up the coin for something nicer.

I don’t think so. As stated above me, the electronics are bottom-of-the-barrel crapola, with a 50/50 chance of letting-out the holy smoke the moment it’s connected to a battery. If You’re lucky, You’ll get one or two packs worth of running before something burns and/or shatters. Control with the stock electronics is also truly abysmal. Hardly any steering, and whèn it finally ‘sorta’ steers, it makes a hellish racket in the process. The plastics also aren’t the most sturdy and get really brittle when a bit cold. Let’s just say that the RTR’s -sold overhere in the EU under the AMEWI-brand- are returned quite frequently, smelling of grilled electronics and/or with all the linkages broken. Not so for the kits, though. They are a bit above toy-grade, but not yet fully grown ‘hobby grade’ They need some rc knowledge to be made into usable rc trucks. Kids will wreck them in no time short.. at least the kids in my circle of family & friends did.. :p Last edited by Jay-Em; 11-28-2018 at 11:29 AM. |
