Default WPL C14 C24 Yota Bumpsteer SOLVED

I will post a complete parts list and a diagram with dimensions on how to make the brackets within a week, I need to order proper hardware first. My M2 rod ends came today and I made do with what I had on hand. It works buttery smooth though and full steering both directions. Hooked servo up to another rx to test. I'll need to get some M2 all thread and some other M2 hardware to tidy it up and make it look pretty lol

Please note this will not work with the stock steering link, you will need to make your own, you will also need to remove the passenger side front upper link. Once I get hardware and remake everything I will post up all dimensions.

Awesome! I guess I'll attempt this when my WPL's finally arrive.

I'm really stoked to be able to make this panhard work, these little trucks are so cool for the price, and to be honest I don't think you really need to go gungho on upgrade parts, I think a lot of home made fixes will do these trucks well. I'm gonna have to make 3 more sets of these parts I ordered two of the new Defender D90's which are almost identical to these.

Yeah, I just have 2 coming. I guess I'll need to make 2 panhard setups, even though I did have my friend print me up an axle mount. Did you upgrade the stock servo as well? For now I'm sticking with the servo from the kit. I do need to buy batteries however.

The stock servo seemed to work well and I would have used it but I had bought a 6 pack of mg90s servos from Amazon and they are slightly smaller and it should give me enough room to mount the flysky rx behind the servo now. The six pack of servos was only $20 and change shipped.

I'll check those out if I end up enjoying tinkering on these.

I know I've had a lot of fun messing with the first one and I'm not very far into yet, I've got three more on the way lol

I like it!

I'm probably going to be ordering more of these little trucks, build them up for Family members and have them on hand for the backyard course.

Hardware on the way, I’ll start getting the dimensions for the panhard brackets together and hopefully posted tomorrow.

It looks like thé solution.

I’d say if one would print the brackets in the kind of strong white nylon that f.i. Shapeways offers, it should be plenty strong.
After all, it’s just a 0,6 kg little car that doesn’t go very fast.

Though, having said that, I do think that the parts in aluminuim just lóok better. Bit of de-burring and polishing, and voilà, looks ‘a million dollars’ ( aaand, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if those crafty chinese offer a panhard-kit in the very near-by future. It took less than 2 months for the 3d printed gearcase for two geared xx20 mini-motors that a builder on RcGroups thought-up, to become an official tuning part from WPL itself)

Adrian202 on thingiverse has done some awesome designs. I printed the n20 kit but will probably not use it as the 2 speed will be here soon.

Shapeways stuff is strong, but soooo expensive. I have 3d printed a bunch of stuff for my other cars and they have stood up pretty darn well and the few pieces that have broke from abuse can be reprinted in a few minutes to hours. Right now I am printing the raised steering link and we will see how that does.

Ok here's the info to make your own, if anyone decides to print these in a strong nylon I'd like a couple please lol.

When you drill holes for panhard make sure you leave room for it to pivot, in other words offset the hole a bit, don't center it. For the U channel on the axle mount you can center that hole, I'm going to mount that with a M2x20 and locknut then cut excess off the bottom, where it mounts to chassis I'm going to use M2x20 and locknut and cut the excess off. I didn't see any reason to buy different lengths of hardware, saved some money that way, the M2 will be easy to trim. Same mounting process for the panhard bar itself. When I get the final panhard and steering rod length finalized I'll post that too but most of you can figure it out I'm sure.

3/8in x 3/8in aluminum U channel I bought this at local hardware store

Next 3 items I got at McMaster-Carr

M2x20 button heads pk of 25
M2 All thread 300mm
M2 locknuts pk of 10

M2 plastic rod ends with brass balls from Amazon

I tried...I'll print a set soon to see if they fit well and adjust accordingly. Then I will round the edges and see how it works...

Looks great, however offset the panhard holes outward a bit so the rod has room to move, on the axle piece move the hole up away from the axle and on the chassis piece movevit away from the back wall.

Don't forget mounting hole for axle, that can be centered.

Ok it's all mounted and works great, nothing hits on full compression, steering is maxed out both directions, there is more steering available with a little grinding but I'm done for the day. It looks like it's sitting crooked but it's sitting on a tool on the right rear, I noticed that after I took the pic, it sits level on a level surface.

I am assembling the car on Tuesday so then I will do a final measurement with my measury thing and print a test set on wednesday when I am back in my office.

You think it's better to have the stock 180 in there or put in the N20 double set?
