Default ProLine Ambush woes

So I bought a ProLine Ambush for my son right after Christmas and was originally impressed by the little thing but it didn’t last long. It’s under a month old, has only been used in the house or in the garage. I think it’s probably got about 1.5hrs use on it. He was using it today and it started sounding funky... Long story short the pinion gear is stripped. I can’t find any details on it and it’s also discontinued. Does anyone know what size gear it is? I would assume it must be a fairly common size. It’s mangled to the point I can’t really count the teeth on it. I am going to try emailing ProLine also. If I have to buy a complete motor with gear I will. The little things aren’t exactly cheap so I would like to get it going again. I guess he’s going to be getting that TRX4 he’s been asking for sooner than later.

Thanks in advance for any help. I am just getting back into RC after about 10 years so I am trying to reacquaint myself with everything.

The Proline Ambush pinion and Spur are the same 0.3 mod as all the 1/36, 1/24 Losi micros, ECX Barrage/RGT Adventurer, and a few others. Just make sure to set the mesh properly and everything spins smoothly before reassembling

BTW the pinion is likely 10t or 11t. Could even be 12. I'd just look for a 10t. Use a small dab of CA or super glue to secure the new pinion if the motor shaft isn't splined.

Awesome! Thanks for the quick reply. I am guessing you are right with the 10T. Looks way too small to be much bigger but they can’t be much money so maybe I will just grab a couple of a few different sizes.

Have you found a replacement pinion for this yet. If so which one did you use. I am in the same boat as you right now.
