Default Please Help - Kyosho Mini-Z Jimny Sierra - Can't Screw M2x6mm Back on with Wheel

Hello all and anyone kind enough to help,

Just tried to install these Kyosho weighted tires/wheels and quickly discovered an issue with the M2x6mm screws:

Kyosho MX-01 Jimny Sierra Pre-Mounted Tire & Wheels w/Weight (2)

When trying to screw in the weighted wheels, the screw no longer bites and I can't secure the wheel.

What's really odd is that 1) this is all stock hardware (click for image reference) and 2) when I tested this with the other side, I didn't even remove the wheel or the screw, and immediately tried to screw it back in immediately after unscrewing it and it still wouldn't screw back on, it would just turn freely (can't screw stock tire/wheel back on).

Further troubleshooting shows that the thread works as illustrated by THIS PIC HERE
(with these pics for reference #1 & #2) where it's screwed on without the wheel and it's a tight fit, though, the thread doesn't "catch" until further in only towards the end tip of the screw, and unfortunately, this doesn't leave any room for the thickness of the wheel.

So I'm wondering, how was the stock wheel attached to begin with? Was it just glued on maybe? I couldn't find any residue of glue or loctite or anything.

Would anyone have any suggestions on how to address this??

Do I need to just get new screws that are slightly longer? If so, would anyone be able to send me a link for the correct screw/thread that would work? (sorry I'm still a casual enthusiast and am not sure which are the correct ones and where to find them so I'm reaching out to the community in hopes someone who knows can enlighten me!).

Please help, any suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks!

I had the same issue with my Jimny. There's actually a little nut inside the axle that those screws thread into - the nut can shift in/out a little which can prevent the threads from catching (see MZW13BK in the pic).

I was able to get my wheels back on by using a slightly longer screw to pull the nut closer to the wheel then use the regular screws to reattach.

Wow thanks, Karl!!! That made so much sense, what a simple fix! and thanks for that pic too, was trying to find the specs booklet but couldn't find mine.

I didn't have any longer screws on hand so I just used the stock screw to bite the tip of the nut and just pull it down with the axle "upside down" essentially and just carefully unscrew the screw while still pulling down, then align the wheel and screw it back in and it worked!

Thanks again, bud, you're the best, much appreciated!

This was a design flaw on kyosho's part in my opinion. I use a tooth pick and poke the nut from the back side so that the stock screw can catch the nut.
