Painting Orlandoo body

I'm expecting to have my first Orlandoo kit today, but I was wondering about paint.

I've got Tamiya spray paint for lexan RC Car bodies, but didn't know if I needed a special paint for the orlandoo body. I'm assuming yes, but want to confirm what you guys have used.

Thats a great question I recently wondered about myself! When I painted my blackjack I almost did it with tamiya orange, but was worried it would not adhear correctly. So I ended up buying kylon specifically for plastic on my blackjack and it went on the hardbody much like tamiya paint goes on lexan if that makes sense. I kind of regret not trying it because my bronco would have been duke of hazzard orange and black.

You could use lexan type paint (PS) but i usually use TAMIYA (TS) spary can and some acrylic paint (manual hand brush). The advantages i found on TS/Acrylic is that if i made a dry spill on body works could easily scraping the paint off using finger nail.

Wow. Nice job on those bodies!

I'll have to finalize what color scheme I'm after then decide what to use. It's such a small truck that buying an entire can of paint seems like a waste... Of course, I could always paint a matching big brother or sister for this little guy [emoji4][emoji4][emoji4]

The bodies are 'styrene, so you can also use model-car paints. I used Testors enamels and custom mixed a color for my Jeep. :) If you have an airbrush you can thin the paint down and spray lighter coats. It's pretty easy to get too much paint on these little bodies. Then the details start to blur. I have a hard time with light coats from a rattle can sometimes.
Good luck with it and show us some pic's. "thumbsup"

Red paint is done!

Any idea how long I should wait before masking and painting the black roof and fenders? The Tamyia instructions are so bad and don't explain anything. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...080da01b8d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...7f056ad5a6.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d7f76d92b9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...9324fc996e.jpg

Ok, so seriously, what glue are you all using for these little body parts? I've tried plastic glue, super glue, epoxy and they either don't seem to stick or require too long of a set time to be accurate. And do these parts actually stay on or should I order a few extra sets of body parts? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d098cfbe25.jpg

I'm using Tamiya plastic model kit cement glue, works great on all my build. They stick a minutes or so.

I couldn't find that stuff, but I ended up crossing my fingers and using gorilla glue 5 minute set epoxy. Gave it 24h and it looks like it worked! Parts seem firmly in place [emoji16]

Not trying to hijak the thread, but is the consensus that you can use tamiya PS? I have the same question regarding the paint type.

I saw a guy on the YouTube channel Buy it Break it Fix It working on an orlandoo build and he used PS paint. I ended up getting TS paint just to be 100% certain it would work and, to be honest, it went on so nicely, even in a very cold (3 degrees celcius) enclosed porch that I have no regrets.
