Default Rgt 1/24 start of scale

Wife picked me up one for my birthday, I have a 79 f100 model I plan to use as the body. Decided to work on some terrains and share with you all. Also picked up a 4 speed reduction gear box and 10 amp 7.4lipo esc to help. Factory is lacking good throttle response.

Thank you for the nice comment!! Honestly from start to finish it only took about 4 hours of work over a week (drying stages) There is a guy in YouTube that shows how to make "scale terrain" and is it is very cheap/simple. Foam, plaster, primer spray paint, some craft paint, Elmer's glue, and flock. This is the first one I've made...

Some more progress, had my daughter's making some more rocks and started to mock up the Ford.

I got some time to change things out, put in a servo I had from a 1/16 carisma, flysky receiver, $9 Amazon esc, and 7.4 1000mah lipo $16 Amazon for 2.

All around much better performance, way better power band, next is the gear reduction tranny.

Update...

Trans. built and installed, made a cover/mount plate used some 2-56 screws. Since this trans is about 3mm wider then stock had to trim down the drive shafts. Today my wpl metal driveshaft set should be in and I'll turn those down this week. Next will be incorporating the longer motor can into this trans, current performance great low end torque maybe to much, there are four different gear ratios so I need to try them all for better speed/to.

Also more rocks landscape to come much larger rock range is in the works

The trans is Tamiya TAM70189 Mini Motor Low Speed Gearbox 4-Speed, had to cut the shaft and drill holes for the driveshaft.

Choice reasons was because of cost and availability compared to losi or ecx, got it on Amazon $87 free shipping, and came with 3 lipos. Always loved micros used to do alot of xmods with model body's, stacked fets, neo magnets, lipos.

Thanks again for the great comments

It's been slow going "weather has been nice" but made some progress on the body did some dents and rust holes. Need to finish plaster on the larger rock formations, maybe in the next couple of days I'll have paint on it. Also I've been working on my 1:1 getting her ready for another winter.

Looking awesome! You might've already figured this out, but the RGT is actually the OEM of the "new" Element Enduro 24. So any upgrades that come out for the Enduro 24 will work on the RGT.

I love those tiny little Swampers!

Not to make you feel bad addie, but OP’s RGT is a V1 spec, the enduro is a V2 spec. That being said, anything suspension and chassis related should still work.

I’m need to find those videos for making the terrain. Your first piece looks awesome for a first time, and the rest look awesome too.

I actually didn't realize that, so I'm glad you corrected me! Better that than let me spread false information, haha.

@Jkates828 this is VERY nice piece of rock!
I was so impressed that I had already started to do mine with my kid as I already had some foam etc.
I am wonder what kind of paint did you use for the first layer the blue-gray one?

I use cheap gray primer spray paint for the first layers, nothing special. The other paint is basic craft paints mixed to different shades and dry brushed on.

That's awesome having your child involved, while painting trying to get my daughter's to understand less is more was quite a challenge.

Thanks for the great comments!!!

JKates, any tips on how you fitted the larger motor into the Tamiya 4-speed trans? Planning to do the same thing to my Panda Hobby Tetra K1.

Used a dremel to match the contour of the motor to the trans, but I left the hole just small enough so when you put the trans together it clamps down on the motor. Also the way the trans is built the worm gear holds the motor from moving.

I also purchased extra telescoping drive shafts to trim down since the trans was wider then org. Not sure what you would need for the panda.

Kind Regards

Update

Been a whole year, ended up with two scx24's running great, recently been rebuilding RadioShack xmods and had a little turkey day 500 in the basement also wanted to share some scale garage works.

Gorgeous landscaping!! I have an RGT Adventurer as well, a big fan of the wheelbase on it.
