Default Scx24

Just ordered the servo mount for the Emax servo.
Emax servo.
Adding my hobbywing brushed esc I had lying around on a crawler I don’t use anymore and binding with my flysky RX.
Just need better tires and wheels I found in another thread here.
The ESC is a lot heavier as well so that will help with weight in front.
Just going to start with o-rings in the shocks for now and see how that goes.

Now the waiting period on the rest of my parts to come in about two weeks.

Glad I have the boys stock scx24 to play with till then.

I also need longer body post for the rear so I can mount the body a different way than the JLU body mounts.
Reason is, I took the body from the kids scx24 jlu and swapped it for the scx24 deadbolt so I could fit all my new electronics. The chassis is longer on the JLU compared to deadbolt. So I have to shift the body back a few mm

I measured 2.75mm post.
Anyone know where to get them that fit in the stock holes deadbolt provides?

This is how I mounted my body because I could not stand the hinge.

Its alumium tube I bought at the hardware store that was the same size of the holes in that mount you see in the picture. I hand bent it and used velcro around it.

Nice.
I had some antenna tubing I used as a quick mock up and would work for moment.
I need to get to hardware store.
I have some post that almost fit from 1/18. I could dremel those down a little as well.
Just looking for others ideas and what they have done.
Thanks
Just got 3 of these little guys and we love them.
Need to get my girl one now so we dudes don’t have to share wit the woman of the house.

What horn will you be running with it?

I have the es09md also. Mist people run the analog es08ma

I have heard there is a plastic gear in the 09, but don't know that for sure.

Also have heard it has a different spline/horn than the 08

I have some metal horns and it comes with plastic horns. So I’ll try the metal first if they are same.

Yeah, that's what the picture shows, all metal, but I have been doing research, and found a thread on a heli forum, about the company saying it had a plastic gear to eliminate noise, and a youtube video of that user that took it apart

I hope to find a metal horn for mine too. Honestly though, if I need to hack the straight horn up, it's no big deal.

I do need a mount though. I have heard some people use spacers and longer screws. Just not sure where to get longer screws that size without getting like 100 from mcmaster carr

I have two of the analog 08's on mine with 4WS for months now. If the 09's are a bitch, just get the 08's. They are awesome!

Thanks for the heads up on the plastic.
Im Sure it’s better than the stock so even if one gear is plastic I could deal.

I just added my hobbywing esc and receiver and flysky transmitter
Once I get the new servo and tires I’ll be testing it all out.
I’m sure I’ll test soon before.

I had to increase the height of the body a few mm to get the gear crammed in there.
I also added some o-rings to shocks today and they don’t bottom out now with all the added weight. Stands much higher now so hopefully I don’t have to much height.

Now just wait for the tires and servo tray and servo.

So eBay cancelled my order for the es09 because it was last one and was damaged.
I actually found I had these little guys laying around with metal gears from my 1/18 cars.
They fit in the tray with spacers so I’m going to try it.
They don’t seem to have as good as specs as the Emax but they are metal gears and I think better specs than stock servo in the scx24.
I’m no RC expert but let me know your thoughts about these specs.
I used them in my 1/18 race cars and they works very well in them.

I have had good luck with the MG90S servos. I only add some lead to my wheels on my micros and they hold up fine. If you plan on adding 10lbs. of brass you might need the stronger servo.

Lol 10lbs...
That’s great to hear as I have 3-4 servos in stock at home already.
With the new servo tray soon I can pop one in.
I also had to order the lower CoG esc tray as my hobbywing esc is slightly taller and with wires I had to bring the body higher which I don’t like.

Just going to order the axel weights/spacers for weight.

I see two types of the es08’s
I see the same model ending in es08MA II and es08Md II
Both with same specs.
Is there any specific one I should try?

I think the servos I have in stock might be messed up. They act funny when turning them. I have one turnigy and the other small ones I posted the other day.

Broke my stock servo tonight so once new tray comes in I can add a bigger servo.

On another note my indoor foam track is coming out great. Lots of tough turns and servo breaking holes and obstacles. About 4’x6’ with a small second level, tunnels, bridges, etc.

The MD is digital and the MA is analog. Digital's better; less deadband, better control.

There's also the ES09MD which is a little taller but has better specs. I have it installed in mine and it runs great. You'll need longer screws and you'll have to trim the mounting tabs and the bumper mounts so it doesn't limit articulation.

What mount are you using? Did you also need spacers? Where did you get the longer screws? I bought the es09md as well. What horn are you using on it?

I ordered the new servo tray on shapeways that’s designed for the Emax servo or slightly larger servos and I think no trim is required.
The servos I have at home will fit in the tray as well.
I’ll order a Emax servo too as backup and try those

I'm using the shapeways emax ES08MAII mount by mod19rc but it's definitely not needed. Also using the stock servo mounting screws. I didn't need spacers but there is some space between the servo mounting tabs and the mount itself. I'm using the horn that came with the ES09MD.

If I were to buy it again I would use the stock mount and some long m2 screws I have. I'd drill the holes out to the right size and use those screws along with some spacers from some spare plastic.

I figured I might as well try the emax es08 shapeways mount as the two are very similar in size. Worked out in the end but definitely not needed.

If you don't have spare screws that are longer than stock or anything to make spacers with, you could get the 08 mount.
