Problem is most brushless motors of this size are high kv Would make terrible crawler performance Dont know of any small low kv motor |

No sensored that I know of. Kyosho has a mini-Z motor at 5600KV BUT it doesn’t look like it would mate up. I think we need our runners from drones. If anyone has the mounting measurements and hole alignment (or adaptors) I’m happy to be the guy that buys 3-5 small out runners and jams them onto the scx24. My daughter wants more speed and with a castle mini esc, I can still have the low speed control.

No sensored. Problem with using drone motors is they are all out runners with the shafts goin out the wrong way. You would have to press out shafts from the bells and then machine a spot for a small c clip to retain the shaft and bell on the other way. Too much work for most especially considering the craptacular low end performance you will get out of them. The smaller you get those motors the higher kv they will be with poor low end torque. We need to sweet talk and convince someone to make a motor of this size...maybe Holmes. But even then not sure if you can get a sensor in this size or even enough poles with the torque required to operate smooth at the speeds we drive these little rigs. If all you want is speed I'm sure there are different turn motors and pinions to achieve this with much less work and better performance |

I found something interesting and picked it up. Should be here in a few weeks and I will see if I can make it work. It’s a mini-Z motor at 2500KV. It’s an inrunner and frankly, may not be powerful enough for crawling. It does have mounting holes for screws so next up is getting the right screws to mount the motor. Hi all, New guy here, just getting back into r/c after a long hiatus. Looking at these SCX24 kits, as they are RTR and I don't own any gear anymore. My question: will the SCX24 chassis handle a heavier body? I'm thinking vintage pressed steel body that weighs around 1 - 2 lbs, plus possibly pulling a pressed steel trailer that weighs another 1 lb at least. Not looking to crawl, just drive around on flat ground. Also could reduce tire size if necessary to ease the load on the running gear. The 1/24 size, wheel base and track all seem to align with this old pressed steel body. Thanks for any input!! Last edited by TeamRamRod; 01-09-2020 at 12:02 PM. |

I would do a Lexington or hard plastic body. These toys are great for crawling but they are not large enough for heavy weight. Lots of upgrades available to you. This is a great forum that helped me as well understand the upgrades needed to crawl like a beast. I was mostly into bashers and off road racing. Now I just like crawling. Have fun. My plan was to strap down the suspension to eliminate travel, mount the battery down low, and only drive on flat ground, plus upgrade the motor. But it seems I may have to find a sturdier chassis for starters. I'm intimidated by building a running gear from scratch, as I've been out of the hobby for too long. Also, for as heavy as this oldschool semi cab body is, it isn't big enough to fit anything more than 1/24 scale under it. I may have to start with a bigger steel body, so I can step up to a 1/18 chassis. Any suggestions for a sturdier, more low-tech 1/24 chassis that can take 1.5 lbs of added weight, going slow on flat ground? Plastic body isn't an option for this build. Thanks! | |

You could use the Holmes 380 revolver but honestly its just way too much power.

Looking to get into this size of models as well. Is there any big difference between this one and the CR-24 which would make one more of a recommendation? Or are there any other alternatives in this price range? |

I just picked up the HH 380 revolver and shapeways mount, anyone know what size screws are needed for this?
