Default Panda Hobby Tera X1

I searched for any threads here about this truck and didnt find any. It looks cool. Kind of a JK clone body with light bar. I almost ordered an SCX24 but the videos of them looked too fast and bouncy like all micros out of the box. This Tera X1 may be just as bad and its priced about $50 more than it should be....but I ordered one anyway. Should be here today.

The scx24 isn't fast and bouncy. It has worm gears and the same sized motor as the Losi, but with more turns. The person in the video had the throttle pegged instead of crawling.

Hmm This one looks odd, like a clone of a Barrage. Transmission looks different, but I'm willing to bet it's going to be fast and bouncy with those springs

$160 seems quite a bit over priced

Carisma alloy oil-filled shocks are $20 to $25 and are pretty nice

Arrived today. First impression is an outstanding product. The extra $50 can be found in lots of different details. I love the detailed manual. Suspension is buttery smooth. Servo never seemed to struggle with stock tires. The pumpkins are a bit large but acceptible. The box and packaging was like I bought a Faberge egg. Lots of attention to detail in every respect. Definitely worth the money IMO.

However it is still too fast for a crawler. Every micro "crawler" ever made needs to be geared down. I guess manufacturers think that newbies will not like it if it doesn't go fast. They should call it what it is - a trail truck. They should NOT call it a crawler.

Light bar only has three LEDs but at least it has a light bar and it will be easy to add a strip of LEDs

Definitely a 1/18 scale. A fine point Sharpie pen on the panel lines will make it pop.

Decal sheet is obviously meant to appeal to the U.S. market

The detailed manual is meant for a build (or rebuild) even though its an RTR. I really like it and it reminds me of the old Tamiya stuff. Complete parts list with part numbers. Very nice indeed.

Interesting. it looks better made than I initially expected but I'm still not sure about the price. Maybe I'll pick one up if they are still around in a few months. It's no fun when these oddballs disappear and no parts are available.

Yeah the parts list is useless unless there is a supply to order from. I only know Panda Hobby from their scale plastic kits. Nice kits too. Maybe this thing has legs. But their go-to-market timing is awful because its right on top of the SCX24 release so unless they come out with some hop ups for the Tera quickly, it may go the way of the Ambush...

Something else I dig about this little truck. You can switch the lights on and off remotely from a switch the Tx. A third channel!

Also you can configure the brake lights to come on when using the brakes and the reverse light to work only when in reverse. A couple of very nice features for a micro.

The transmitter is one of the clones like Axial uses on the SCX24. Third channel turns the lights on and off. The "3 speed" is of course just a voltage limiter and is mostly useless.

I'd bet it's not a clone as much as just rebranded. They might even use thr same protocol.

Actually upon closer looks it's a little different. Interesting

The Scramblers look pretty good on it! I also slapped some edge trim on the fenders.

I like this thing.

Really an excellent truck. At middle voltage, you can actually get it to crawl with some finger disipline.

New shoes full full of lead rope!

Pay no attention to the dent on the rocker panel. It was a tragic soldering iron accident.
