Panda Hobby Tera X1 I searched for any threads here about this truck and didnt find any. It looks cool. Kind of a JK clone body with light bar. I almost ordered an SCX24 but the videos of them looked too fast and bouncy like all micros out of the box. This Tera X1 may be just as bad and its priced about $50 more than it should be....but I ordered one anyway. Should be here today. https://www.pandahobby.com/vehicles-2 https://static.wixstatic.com/media/a...4d434~mv2.webp https://static.wixstatic.com/media/a...6fb08~mv2.webp |
Re: Panda Hobby Tera X1 The scx24 isn't fast and bouncy. It has worm gears and the same sized motor as the Losi, but with more turns. The person in the video had the throttle pegged instead of crawling. Hmm This one looks odd, like a clone of a Barrage. Transmission looks different, but I'm willing to bet it's going to be fast and bouncy with those springs Sent from my LGMP450 using Tapatalk |
Re: Panda Hobby Tera X1 $160 seems quite a bit over priced Sent from my LGMP450 using Tapatalk |

Re: Panda Hobby Tera X1 Comes with two batteries too. Maybe the $160 isnt so bad? Hope its there when I get home.... It may be crap! |
Re: Panda Hobby Tera X1 Arrived today. First impression is an outstanding product. The extra $50 can be found in lots of different details. I love the detailed manual. Suspension is buttery smooth. Servo never seemed to struggle with stock tires. The pumpkins are a bit large but acceptible. The box and packaging was like I bought a Faberge egg. Lots of attention to detail in every respect. Definitely worth the money IMO. However it is still too fast for a crawler. Every micro "crawler" ever made needs to be geared down. I guess manufacturers think that newbies will not like it if it doesn't go fast. They should call it what it is - a trail truck. They should NOT call it a crawler. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...924/rIAPkC.jpg Light bar only has three LEDs but at least it has a light bar and it will be easy to add a strip of LEDs https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...921/Hfhvhm.jpg Definitely a 1/18 scale. A fine point Sharpie pen on the panel lines will make it pop. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...921/jNHaoJ.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...921/0Ov0WY.jpg Decal sheet is obviously meant to appeal to the U.S. market "thumbsup" https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...923/vJ3yY3.jpg The detailed manual is meant for a build (or rebuild) even though its an RTR. I really like it and it reminds me of the old Tamiya stuff. Complete parts list with part numbers. Very nice indeed. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...923/hvKLzX.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...924/xXb3sK.jpg |
Re: Panda Hobby Tera X1 Interesting. it looks better made than I initially expected but I'm still not sure about the price. Maybe I'll pick one up if they are still around in a few months. It's no fun when these oddballs disappear and no parts are available. Sent from my LGMP450 using Tapatalk |

Yeah the parts list is useless unless there is a supply to order from. I only know Panda Hobby from their scale plastic kits. Nice kits too. Maybe this thing has legs. But their go-to-market timing is awful because its right on top of the SCX24 release so unless they come out with some hop ups for the Tera quickly, it may go the way of the Ambush... |
Re: Panda Hobby Tera X1 Looks awesome but I just want the sticker set lol! |

Re: Panda Hobby Tera X1 I'm wondering about the apes evolving sticker, is the final form holding a RC radio? lol |
Re: Panda Hobby Tera X1 Yea I've seen a fishing one too |
Re: Panda Hobby Tera X1 Something else I dig about this little truck. You can switch the lights on and off remotely from a switch the Tx. A third channel! Also you can configure the brake lights to come on when using the brakes and the reverse light to work only when in reverse. A couple of very nice features for a micro. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...924/bA68hQ.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...921/Ka8q41.jpg |

That’s a cool mini. Cool find man. “Like” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Panda Hobby Tera X1 The transmitter is one of the clones like Axial uses on the SCX24. Third channel turns the lights on and off. The "3 speed" is of course just a voltage limiter and is mostly useless. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...924/YhD1fQ.jpg |
Re: Panda Hobby Tera X1 I'd bet it's not a clone as much as just rebranded. They might even use thr same protocol. Actually upon closer looks it's a little different. Interesting Sent from my LGMP450 using Tapatalk |
Re: Panda Hobby Tera X1 The Scramblers look pretty good on it! I also slapped some edge trim on the fenders. I like this thing. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...923/EPlsUg.jpg |
Re: Panda Hobby Tera X1 Really an excellent truck. At middle voltage, you can actually get it to crawl with some finger disipline. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...924/CdAPLf.jpg |
Re: Panda Hobby Tera X1 New shoes full full of lead rope! https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...924/eN4X0f.jpg Pay no attention to the dent on the rocker panel. It was a tragic soldering iron accident. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...923/VWe7rc.jpg |
Re: Panda Hobby Tera X1 May as well beat it up and rust it out. |

yeah but not melt it......:) |
Re: Panda Hobby Tera X1 anyway from the pictures, I'm not sure if there is any better than this in this size. I was searching for a thread talking about this car. I ordered one, should be here in the weekend. BTW, it's Tetra right lol |

Its worth it. High quality everything. |
Re: Panda Hobby Tera X1 This is an excellent truck. For you guys that think $145 is a lot for a micro, consider the cost of a 1/18 Gelande 2 and how much money you have to spend and work you have to do to make it a decent crawler. The Tetra 1 is light years better than the Gelande 2 right out of the box. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/922/X7vx3A.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/923/tkfKdk.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/923/vcYMG9.jpg |

Re: Panda Hobby Tera X1 Wow all these micros. This and the hobbyplus 1/18 are very interesting. Axial is great but not interested in worm gears. The ‘dent’ adds character haha. |
Re: Panda Hobby Tera X1 Quote:
Is that hobby Plus 1/18 available yet? Ive been oogling it on asiatees. |
Re: Panda Hobby Tera X1 Not yet. If they keep the same time Between announcement and pre-order is should be in the next week or two roughly. I'll be sure to post as soon as I see pre-order Sent from my LGMP450 using Tapatalk |

Re: Panda Hobby Tera X1 Ive been fiddling with the Tetra in my limited free time. I designed and printed a simple battery tray that moves the battery to a better position. I also made another one of my patented chain drive transmissions and mated it to a couple different gear motors. I ended up using an 050 motor with a 850RPM output planetary gearhead. On 3S it's a perfect crawling ratio. Also modified a heli tail rotor heat sink to clamp on the 050 because it gets pretty warm. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...922/I2UKHL.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...923/2FSBPd.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...922/w4Mn20.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...923/yLzUzN.jpg |
Re: Panda Hobby Tera X1 What was the reason for this mod, did it not have enough power with stock motor or gearing? |

Re: Panda Hobby Tera X1 Just got one of these for my son and he loves it. Of course, he'd like more batteries to keep the fun going. Does anything need to be done to the ESC to run 2S LiPos? The instructions don't mention alternate batteries or anything. |
Re: Panda Hobby Tera X1 It comes with a 2S Lithium Ion. Maybe just have to use a different charger? |
