Scx24 4 linked & cms

Not to impressed with the rig but decided to give it some love anyway.
Only used what was in the spare parts bag some styrene tube & 2 losi micro screws.
With that I was able to bump the front out 10mm & 4 link it.

Front lower links become the new uppers & the smaller set in the parts bag became the new lowers.
Pop the balls out of the stock lowers & put them in the new lowers from the bag.
Then use 1/8 styrene tube to fill the new uppers were you removed the balls from.
Two long Losi Micro Crawler screws to attach the uppers on the axle side. All other mounting points use the stock hardware.
Took 12mm out of the extra shaft in the bag.

Side note:
This mod will not work with the stock shocks you must use longer ones up front. I am running sumo shocks on all four corners.

Awesome work as usual Don. I had a feeling someone would eventually use those extra parts to lengthen the front

Thats a nice mod, I actually found my Y links are rubbing the drive shaft when I go one direction (the other direction moves the U joint and it clears). This would be great for getting rid of the rubbing as a nice side benefit.

Thanks worm & spoo! Can’t stand Y links.

That’s due to the crappy tolerance in the case at the worm gear. Then they tried to bandaid it with o-rings :lmao:
I believe they will start locking up & start burning up electronics soon as those o-rings go. That worm gear up top has to sit in the sweet spot on the worm wheel down below. If not your in for some serious binding.

Try grabbing a wheel & spin either direction look at the output shaft while doing so. It shouldn’t move in & out like that mine has little run time & the shaft moves out about 2-3mm.

Wish axial would have made either delrin or brass shims to fix the issue instead of o-rings.

Thanks for the run down "thumbsup" I noticed the huge amount of play but I've never ran worm gears before so I wasn't sure whether shimming was normal or not.

Time to print some plastic shims I suppose, I'm guessing they should go inside the housing?

I noticed the same tolerance issues. Especially the slop in the transmission outputs.

Never had to shim any of my losi’s. That is correct on the inside where the o-rings are sitting. I’m going to turn down some delrin shims next.

No more sloppy steering thanks to some brass & sumo steering hardware.

The gearhead wheels are in stock at rpp. But these are a different rim I wish CAC did another run of these.

So I was thinking the same thing about the CAC wheels VS my GearHead and Googled CAC wheels to try and send an Email asking if they would make more.
It seems that while they are different looking wheels GearHead owns the CAC line. I guess that means the GearHead style are the closest we'll get.

Thank you. How’s RC4WD tires around the wheels recessed channel? Good fit?

They fit and look great. With most tires I don't even glue the tire and they don't spin on the wheel

Thank you Spoo76. Of the two old reviews on RPP’s site one said RC4WD tires didn’t fit well.
It was from 2015 though.

Thanks for confirming. Ordering mine now.

Some of the RC4WD will need to be glued. I can't recall what does other than rok lox. MiClaws, Scramblers, and SCX24 Nittos, and I think even my Goodyear MTRs didn't seem to need glue

Nice work Don! Really Glad to see ya start back on the micro scene. Course you couldn't leave anything alone but it all looks good.
So with that your gunna make me get back in here. I can't wait to see what else you come up with.
