Default Qin24 1/24 Heavy Truck

I got this in the mail today from Aliexpress. Qin24 Heavy Truck.

A serious bit of kit. Completely metal and built with a million 1.5mm screws and nuts. Full double bearings on the wheels. Comes with servo and a 370 motor with planetary gear box. Mondo splined drive shaft. They even included some tools and a gillion spare fasteners.

I also ordered the driven front axle so I will make this 6x6.

I need some ideas for bodies for this. any good 6 wheel truck bodies out there?

If that’s a 370 motor it’s closer to 1/16 I’d think.

What’s the axle widths and we can find a nice body for it?

Nice, lower link mounts on middle axle looks reversed of what they should be?

Width is 105 mm or 4.14 inches.

Well, that’s in the neighborhood of 1/24. There’s some sweet Unimog and M35 builds on Pinterest.

Notsure what they are supposed to look like Nate. Her is a pic of my 1/16 6x6. Maybe commercial trucks in china look like that.

The entire rear end has to be torn down and rebuilt correctly. I think thats 3 million screws...

Thats an interesting rig.

Rear suspension looks similar to a walking beam suspension only with leafs.

Holy cow! Have you seen how expensive a 1/24 semi tractor kit is? Finding a good body might be expensive....

Great find! Can’t afford 1/14 maybe I can scrape the change to get one of these. The body will prob be half as much if not more than the kit. I model semis and they’ve got ridiculously high.

Man, the driven front axle was a bit of a challenge to figure out how to take apart. You need to completely disassemble it just to mount the wheels because the "studs" are just more of the Phillips head 1.4mm screws that you need to back up with a screwdriver from the back as you install the nuts from the front.

The axle housing has to be split apart, and the outer u-joints removed from axle shafts. Then you're left with the knuckle and hub. The crazy/interesting thing is that the hub is all one piece connected to half of the outer u-joint. You have to disassemble the actual u-joint just to get the pivot pins out of the way of the bearing, then find some snap-ring pliers because the hub piece is retained in the knuckle with a snap ring that is hidden behind the bearing and grease. Sneaker bastards.

I was puzzled until I saw two holes of a snap ring hidden under a gob of grease.

The hub with all the screws and half of the u-joint is all one piece with a groove for the snap ring.

Spied this at Walmart today. I didn’t pull a measurement though. Looked small enough.

Cheap toy body but had some decent details.

Ive seen some Nylint toy semi trucks, in fact I have a Kenworth that is toy grade but 1/24. Its the right scale but if I want to use the servo mount/ cab hinge bracket, I have to pay attention to the dimension in blue.

Most of the European flat front cabs have the door in front of the wheel which allows for the servo bracket. Kenworth and Peterbuilt all have the front axle right up against the bumper, even the flat front Peterbuilts. I have this kit on order, mainly because it was cheap:

Also the suspension and gearbox on this little chassis is STOUT and is made for weight and hauling so a diecast boddy would be best. Dicast semi trucks are expensive too.... (note the flat front cab with door in front of axle)

For $10, the Adventure Force truck might be worth a try...

The toy body I have is a New Bright, not a Nylint. Pretty good detail but again there is not enough adjustment in the cab tilt bracket and shackle mounts to make this kind of cab work unless I mount the servo somewhere else. I want to try to use the cab tilt brackets though. I can make this body work but I want to try a flat front type cab first.

Ah. I see what you’ve been saying now. LOL. Seems like the cab over style would be less room there. But it may just be an optical illusion of the driver’s seat just so far forward.

How good are you at styrene work? You could stretch the front of the New Bright rig, just like the long-nose Peterbilts.

I actually bought the MAN Formel Six model pictured above. It will take some modeling but I can make it work.
