jimbo74's SCX24 Deadbolt Ok, so time to make my own thread and stop threadjacking everyone else's. ;) Mil Stone adapters. Took off the side stickers, pushed the bumper back into the frame 1 notch, [it came in the middle] (this actually made my servo horn rub the inside of the bumper sometimes, so as pictured below, I cut into the bumper and made clearance). Mod19RC cage and steering linkage. Got the wrench tool in blue. It is pretty janky. I did some modding and got it to work with lots of superglue gel. Should have put that $ towards an MIP driver in the first place. My drill won't fit the #57 drill bit. And I can't find an adapter to fit the Dremel. So will need to get one. Also, broke the adapter that was in it. Doh! It actually isn't a Dremel, but a 12V Milwaukee rotary tool. Pretty awesome for battery operated. also got some #57 drill bits on order: 2x https://store.rc4wd.com/Scrambler-Of...es_p_5142.html https://store.rc4wd.com/Stamped-Stee...me_p_7086.html Made a pelican case for it. It is now different than previously posted. New pics below. My OEM charger broke already, the dreaded flashing red --- so I just use my charger from other RCs. If you let the battery run down, it will discharge to unsafe levels. Mine got to 2.5V per cell today... OOPS.... I was able to get it working again though. Also, my new extra battery came today. going be editing pics out, so the most recent posts in this thread have the most current configuration of my truck |
Re: jimbo74's SCX24 Deadbolt One of my chargers is flashing too. Fortunately I have an adapter for my standard balance charger. Don't trust the USB chargers anyway. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk |

Re: jimbo74's SCX24 Deadbolt A little disappointed with RC4WD @ this point...... They are a CA company. I figured they made their stuff here, and had stuff in stock, that said in stock. I made my purchase on 9/30. And was immediately charged. Well today, I finally get a message saying my order has been shipped DHL from China!!!!! There goes another month....... |
Re: jimbo74's SCX24 Deadbolt Got my new wheels and tires today! |
Re: jimbo74's SCX24 Deadbolt Got the first tire mounted. What a pain.... I do like them though.... So running the milstone adapters and the rc4wd wheels. You need to enlarge the axle hole to 1/8" for the barrel nut of the milstone. Also, because the 6 hub screws are so close, you can't get anything in there. I had to remove all but 2 of the screws, so I could tighten the barrel nut down with needle nose pliers. Then put the rest of the hub screws back in. It does look pretty wicked though. And I got that .050" RPM driver. So nice [emoji4] https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...bbef2d4ee5.jpg |
Re: jimbo74's SCX24 Deadbolt I need to get an Emax servo now. It won't turn statically and still sucks when moving. |
Re: jimbo74's SCX24 Deadbolt Looks awesome!I use same technique with those wheel, time consuming but sometimes you gotta do what you got to do hahaha.I bet you think is well worth it. |
Re: jimbo74's SCX24 Deadbolt So.... I might take out my mil stone weights. One of the guys at the lhs said it adds a lot of rotational weight, and that new knuckles and diff covers would be better for the motor/drivetrain. Makes sense. He said he just ordered a shark chassis for his. |
Re: jimbo74's SCX24 Deadbolt Maybe he just wants you to buy more stuff from him lol. While it does add some more rotational weight, it's not much of an issue on a slow crawler especially at this small scale. It's not like it's a fast basher. Also being smaller in diameter closer to the hub is less rotational weight than being on the outside of the wheel. Like 1/10 guys do with lead car wheel weights. If you don't notice any negative performance issues yet, there likely isn't a reason to remove them. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk |
Re: jimbo74's SCX24 Deadbolt Well. Removed them. But I think I may have over tightened my axles nuts. Truck won't move. Just torques to one side. |
Re: jimbo74's SCX24 Deadbolt Got the torquing situation solved. The wheel nuts were too tight. I am worried about them now. But the ends are still flush with the nut, so it should be good. |
Re: jimbo74's SCX24 Deadbolt Does anyone have a nut driver in 4mm that works with the rc4wd hubs? |

Re: jimbo74's SCX24 Deadbolt What is the name of the stock battery connector? I’m going to be changing batteries to fit the new battery tray I have and want to be able to search the correct thing. Thanks. Ben |
Re: jimbo74's SCX24 Deadbolt Quote:
very few batteries come with that, other than the $16 OEM battery...... |
Re: jimbo74's SCX24 Deadbolt Thank you. I mean I wanted to search connectors to make an adapter something like you bought. Either solder new ends on aftermarket battery or just make an adapter harness. Thanks again. Ben |
