Default Micro Shark (Type T)

My Micro Shark has shipped, so I’m starting the thread early in excitement. Lol.

Parts that have arrived: HR knuckles, CI foams, TGH factory fit carbon rails, and screws for panels.

Parts on the way: HR skid, HR diff covers, RC4WD 1.0 raceline beadlocks, RC4WD 1.0 scamblers and of course the micro shark!

Great to see a build thread for the Micro Shark! I think yours is the first on any forum outside of my build guide. I need to get a thread going for my personal builds...

It will be interesting to see how those rails work out. I will admit that I am a little apprehensive about them since the chassis was designed to fit within the channels of the factory rails. Hopefully everything fits up, because the CF rails would look pretty awesome.

Looking forward to your progress.

I was weary of the CF rails myself, as you said it’s designed around the C channels, I’m hoping I can modify the frame or rails in some fashion. I have another 24 I can use the rails on if all fails haha

Agreed you should, I love reading up on others builds, great way to learn other people’s techniques, etc.

Shark comes tomorrow, super stoked!

I’ll also be adding a emax servo, I ordered the MS servo mount, but I also have a brass servo mount for a emax off shapeways may try to use that first. Still waiting on the racelines, says November 4th I’ll also be using a RC4WD mini glendale motor, I’ve fried like 2-3 of the stock motors doing nothing but driving around my living room. Lol.

Pictures tomorrow!
Gonna get some paint and sandpaper tomorrow too, I’m thinking red or orange, my friends say go orange so it’ll probably be a creamsicle haha

IIRC the thickness of the factory rails is about 1mm. If the CF ones are wider by much I think there is enough flex for the frame to fit over the rails, but I worry a little about thread engagement on the plastic bits they screw in to. Just be mindful of that and use your best judgement.

On the EMax servo mount. The one designed for the MS pushes the servo back a couple of mm to make sure the tabs don't hit the plastic bits on the frame up front. If you run into issues with brass mount, then the MS mount should fix that for you.

This is looking sweet! Haven't been on the forum in a long time. I did a ton of build threads on here, years ago, but have mainly put stuff on FB for a long time. Can't wait to see how this turns out.

Some of my rigs....

Jumped in head first, painted chassis satin black, installed CF rails, they worked wonderfully! I’m very pleased. I switched to better hardware off ebay (1.4mm), still waiting for HR skid so used stock for now. Painted panels, they’re out drying in garage, updates on those tomorrow. Oh and my wheels say Thursday now, yay! Haha

Awesome pnw. Glad to see it coming together and that the cf rails work! A little tip is dont tighten the front 3 link too tight on the frame I did and it had limited my suspension movement.

Very cool that the rails worked out. At some point you will have to post some close up shots of the rails mounted up.

In the process of moving while building this, so my updates are a little spaced out, but she’s basically done! The brass servo mount worked great, it barely makes the servo clear but it worked! The soft CI foams were way too soft for the big scramblers, so I used medium up front and stock in the rear. Losi trekker shocks with the springs trimmed ever so slightly. Mil stone kit off ebay for the wheels.

Pretty cool!👍🏼

Never been into the mini Crawlers, amazing to see the wealth of parts availability and following they have.

Maybe one of these days...🤔
