Default SCX24 Flashing Red Charger

Hey All,

Picked up a SCX24 a couple of weeks ago, charged it a couple of times no problems, then I got the flashing red light. I have put in a service request into Axial about it, still waiting to hear from them.

Seems like a bunch of people having the same issue. What are some options or what others doing that doesnt involve that USB charger? I have a hitec multi charger x1 ac plus I use for my other batteries, but don't have that JST style setup. Not sure if I can get that plug style or need a whole new charger? I like this little truck and so do my kids, just wish I can use it.

Are the leads from the hitec charger built in? Or can you swap them with another style (usually with a banana plugs)?

I converted the battery to a male jst then made a jst female to the stock plug adapter, using the stock plug that goes into the ESC. I think there are pictures on my thread that shows it. I can post one if you'd like.

The charger might have broke on you. The USB side seems to come undone from the PCB inside the charger. Mine broke that way.

I ended up buying a JST adapter for my battery charger and never looked back. They make adapter to JST or you can solder some up if you have some JST connections laying around.

Those are solder less plugs. I've been looking for an adaptor. Do you have a link. I stole the plug off an old axial light board and have it aligator clipped in for an adaptor at the moment. Not a great solution.

Mine broke the same way. Third charge

I made an adapter that I can plug into my charger. the stock battery plug is a PH 2.0, I found a female plug that I had cut off an old winch controller

I also had the red light flash when the battery wasn't fully plugged in. It might be worth checking to see if its fully plugged in or if the balance plug had a wire pop loose.

Thanks for the replies. I double checked the wires, no luck. That is what I will do, just make or ask my LHS to see if they can make a cable for me with a Traxxas connector. I suck at soldering, not sure I want to chance my skills on a battery cable. Not sure I want to really test the LIPO bags and if they work.

Of course heading on vacation in a day or so, no time to get a new cable. Packing the SCX24 would have been perfect. Oh well. Will just have the big ones to bring.

My charger also had the red light and then it just stopped working altogether and it smelled like it burnt a resistor out. Any chargers that you would suggest? New to the hobby(about a year) and only have Nimh chargers because i haven't invested in a lipo setup.

My two broke right away.
I use my balance charger for my other batts.
I actually prefer it as I can change the charging amp and charge a little faster if I prefer as well as storage discharge

My charger broke after the first charge. Have a request in with axial too.

I think the balance plug will work with my imax b6. But I don’t have an adapter from the battery to deans.

the balance plug is standard

for the main plug, you can pick up adapters, or solder your own

I have the imax and that’s what I use.
I went and bought a board/adapter at my Lhs that allows me to plug in these batteries.

This plugs directly into the pos/neg terminals on side of the iMax with male plugs attached

I think this one is designed to charge multi batteries at once but I would imagine I also need a multi balancer of some sort as well and I just don’t need all that. I charge batteries constantly through my day or day before I’m going to send it.
