Can’t decide, Panda or sc24

Was about buy the scx24 but then saw the panda and it sounds great, hate the body. Which would you pick first

my father owns the scx24, I own the panda.

hands down, stock, the Panda is a better truck in my opinion. larger motor, weight tires, oil shocks.


but it's really too quick for a crawler. and I dislike how you can't easily swap out a different motor.


scx24 has a better body, and likely wins in the easy bolt on aftermarket options.

I agree the Panda is better quality and handles/crawls more like it's 1/10 counterparts. Not many people have the Panda & SCX24 to even give them a fair comparison. Pinion swap is an option for the Panda and does help it crawl a fair bit better. Also looks like Redcat uses the 180 sized motor in one of it's rigs.....in any case the Panda is an incredibly well built piece of kit and deserves a fair assessment. SCX24 is great, but doesn't offer the scale movement or look and feels a bit cheap.

I think SCX24 would be an great gift idea though and might grab one for a nephew who has never owned a crawler. It's $20 cheaper than the Panda and big tires make it more appealing for most.

I own both. It depends on what you want to do with the rig. Slow incline Crawling Is way better with Scx24, no comparison. Trail riding is better with Panda and smoother oil shock ride. SCX 24 has more clearance I specially if you move shocks that gets you over obstacles better. Panda is way too top heavy as well, despite the weighted wheels and way heavier in the back in stock form. It will flip back easer on incline with an obstacle than an SCX. I have a video of both of them crawling. Don’t get me wrong, I love both truck but they serve different purposes. My mission now, is to better distribute the weigh on the panda, lower the gearing, get Bigger tires , find a stronger motor with Low end torque to help it Crawl better. By that time I’m sure I could have gotten 2-3 scx24’s. I say get both

I own both & it's a bit of a toss up. However, I find myself frequently going to get the Panda & controller when I'm looking to do some crawling. It's just a bit more fun. I think it's under-rated. I have the Panda Tetra 1/18 scale X2. Some options you won't see straight out of the box? Headlights, tail-lights, break lights, Light Bar... did I mention a full light setup? That would cost you if you wanted to do it for the SCX24. Also, it's got 3 speeds on the remote to help "gear it down" although I would agree it's still a bit fast at times for a crawler. The most fantastic part about the SCX24 is ithe easy to access body design with the one clip flip up action. Love that!
