Default SCX24: Deadbolt Vs JLU

Anyone have both and compared? Are they basically the same except for the body? If not, any improvements on the JLU?

I only have the db but the jeep I seen in person and it mounts with one body clip in the front center so I know that the body mount is different. Only thing I know but it is at least something different.

I have both and here are the differences noticed:

1) Front links and wishbone are 10mm longer. Wishbone has relief to prevent driveshaft rubbing.
2) Rear links are 10mm shorter to maintian basically the same wheelbase as the Deadbolt.
3) Front ESC/RX mount is much lower than on the Deadbolt.
4) Front and rear bumper mounts drop down to allow the body to sit lower.

Everything else is the same between the two.

I have both as well. The deadbolt has only a SLIGHT advantage on an incline board on what it will climb before flipping backwards. Very slight. Didn’t put my degree finder on it but again, very slight. Haven’t tested side hill angle yet between the two. If you want to build a performance rig, the deadbolt is probably the one to get. Less weight up top,$10 cheaper, and with rexracers upgrade parts, it’ll handle great

You can also hit the link in my sig that takes you to the Mod19RC Shapeways store. Plenty of SCX24 stuff in there now.

All I know to say is the deadbolt has got to have loads more tire clearance. I bought 2 JLU’s for my son and I and the tires scrub even completely stock. I’m going to have lots of trimming to do when my HBX wheels and scramblers get here

So decided to get the JLU. Liked the body more than the deadbolt. First thing I did after running a battery through it was re-arrange the electronics. Axial should’ve oriented it this way from the the get go. Handles way better on the inclines. Next thing was to trim the fenders cause they did rub way too much.

Trimmed mine as well. Add the weights and extenders and it looks even better.
I like the cut fenders look way better on mine as well.
