Default 1/87 IFS Desktop crawler (3D Modeling inside)

Whatsup guys, some of you may remember me from my 1/10th scale IFS Durango build that caused quite a stir, well I'm back with something new. I'm attempting to build a desktop crawler because I'm very bored during this pandemic. Anyway, I've come to some stopping points in my design and was hoping the forum could help me complete my project.

First off, OF COURSE it's a Durango because they're the most underrated offroading vehicle I've come across and they're sexy as hell.

Here you'll see that I've mocked up the tires and width and height I am trying to accomplish.

Next, seeing if it will all fit... I designed a basic body to give me an idea of the dimensions I was working so I'd be able to arrange the electronics inside.

And of course the chassis..

Yes, this is the size of a Hotwheels.. Weird how far electronics have come!

So the issues I'm facing currently, Parts are mostly coming from china which really slows my build down. I need measurements of the bevel gears, and universals to make the front and rear housings that will secure them in place. After that ill be able to finish designing the mounts for the electronics.

I'm hoping to be able to print most of the parts from Shapeways in fine detail plastic, I don't know if the parts are going to be able to be printed yet because they are smaller than the minimum bounding box Shapeways requires. ill have to nest all the parts together to be able to load them up and check printability. Until then I've tried to use the material design rules to the best of my ability and that the design will allow.

Ever think about picking up a msla printer? Might not be as strong as the shapeway stuff but for building the prototype.

Saw a guy print like 20 hot wheel wheels out on one. Looked amazing.

Not really because printers are so limited to the only types of materials they are designed to print around and I use a lot of different materials and processes based on the design. The bigger truck needed durable, and high-resolution parts, this little guy needs finely detailed parts where durability isn't really an issue because of its size but the accuracy and fine detail are necessary to get the parts printed correctly.

Finished up the wheels today since I can't work on anything else. Printing 6 so I can have 2 spares if I mess one up. The price to print is very reasonable, shipping ends up being more. So as much as I want to print these and see how they look, ill have to wait until I get the rest of the parts done.

Well finally, parts have been trickling in, only waiting on the servo now. These pieces are tiny!

Now since that took so long I've lost motivation really, also I've got other projects going on, I may try to finish up the chassis design now that I have the parts to design around. See if that gets me motivated again, if not, ill have the parts ready for a rainy day to build up.
