Default SCX24 wheel weights

I bought my daughter and I a couple of SCX24's to play with in the house. I read a bunch of stuff about wheel weights, but wasn't crazy about the price of the over the counter options.

I picked up a roll of lead fishing wire from Bullet Weights in 3/16" solid. Cabelas has them for $6 a roll, but you have to pay shipping. Amazon has it, but I think it's 9 or 10 bucks. Anyways, I didn't know such a thing existed, but I'm not a fisherman.

It takes about an inch and a half to go around the wheel. I don't need to tell you how to make a circle. Then a couple dabs of hot glue on top. We're not dealing with a high speed vehicle.

We started with 9 grams and added 10 for a total of 19 grams per wheel.

I weighed the stock one and my daughter's C10 and it came out roughly 43 grams heavier. I've got 6 bucks in the roll and plenty more to do about 10 more trucks.

The kids told me they work much better. I think you could use the 1/8" wire and lighten the weight a little if you're concerned about the wheels being too heavy.

I used a couple 5/16" i.d. (or was it 3/8"?) washers inside (just pushed on around the back face of the wheel) one set of 1" wheels, fit perfectly. Doesn't work on all 1" wheels, but it's a good, cheap option that's easy enough to try since most people probably have random washers at home anyway. I told my kid they were scale brake rotors and that worked for him!

Do you have a picture of the wheel?

Noob question how does one remove the wheel? Do I need special tools?

I gave up putting pictures on the internet, but they are the Walker Evans wheels from Fungi: https://www.shapeways.com/shops/lynxmicrotech They're MUCH cheaper now than they were when I bought them.
