I came here today wondering if anyone was doing anything like this. Thanks for posting.

As recently as last week I've said. "I don't care about licenced bodies and scale details. I just want to crawl rocks with a vehicle that looks like an alien".

This morning I woke up with the thought, "Could I build a "scale" version of a 2.2 comp crawler?"

It wouldn't be moa (unless I've missed something awesome in my searches this morning), but long, low and slow with a little wheel speed would be fun for me.

I finally read through the build on Facebook. This is badass Shiggy. You should post the build progression with captions here.

Do you have any videos of it crawling? Looks like it would perform great. I'm curious how the motor does with all of the additional weight.

There are videos on my “shiggy’s Out There” FB page.
I have killed a couple of Barrage motors. I am now careful not to force it when a wheel gets jammed, and not run continuously too long to let the motor cool.
I did get a mount and a couple of 130 motors to experiment with.

Look up "Basher Rocksta" for an MOA 1/24. If you want more wheel speed, worm gear axles would be my last choice, but Redcat Sumo axles use a standard ring & pinion setup that won't lock up everytime you lift off the throttle. I've seen a handful of Foff builds using Sumo axles and brushless motors.

You know Shiggy, I've looked at lots of static model hardbodies but knew they'd kill any performance that a 1/24 crawler would have with so much weight up high, but I never even thought to look at slot car bodies. Good out of the box thinking.

The SuperMod has gone Monster Truck.
4” slot car body. Front mount is Velcro on the top of the ESC.
Made a few chassis mods to reduce weight and increase clearances, and relocated the shock mounting.
