Default 1/24 GenRight Jeep LJ Build

So after my first couple tube chassis designs got pretty dialed I decided to take on a pretty substantial project at the time of designing a full GenRight look alike jeep kit for the SCX24 cause there is no real good options for a nice looking and realistically “built” looking jeep body for these little guys.

Since the chassis I was designing previous to this were more of a full tube chassis buggy type build I wanted to build something a little more realistic with frame rails and full body that didn’t require all the extra upgrades, tires, motor, massive stretch, servo, different batteries etc. I wanted to be able to use almost all of the stock components with a little link stretch to give it better stability otherwise only thing necessary is wheel wideners and a little link stretch. I also wanted lots of space inside the body for electronics and to be able to freely place electronics based on where you wanted the weight. I chose to do mine up a little extra cause why not. Didn’t get many screenshots of the design process but I got a few of the final project and it was one of my favorites to this day. The build came out better than I had ever hoped for and still one of my favorite cars to drive. Even on stock tires the thing wheels better than I had ever hoped for.

Now that the prints showed up it was time to mask it off and give it some paint.
Gold was not my first choice but the only decent color the hobby shop had at the time so I went for it. I designed this to assemble similar to the real thing. Bolt the frame rails up, bolt up the shocks, install the bumpers, drop the body on, and lastly install the cage and it worked out amazing.

I decided to do the cr-24 shocks to get that little bit of extra articulation, I also went with the brass covers for a little more weight down low. Then I did the HR +4 axles for the extra width these cars need, and lastly the EMAX servo upgrade that is completely necessary for these guys. Just those simple upgrades to the jeep alone made a world of difference in the way the jeep looked and performed.

Let me know what you guys think about the build and if you have any questions!!

Did you print that or send it off?
Care to share the files? Or even a link to the print where you had it done so I can get one for my wife?

Edit: beautiful work!
