| Show me your indoor Course build
Looking to build my own course this winter so I've been searching for tips and tricks. I'm gathering materials as I wait for the B17 to arrive as my first micro. My plan is to use my metal shelf to build on and make ramps up to each level. Shelf: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Muscle-R...B&gclsrc=aw.ds Post up your course, share the details of size and materials. |

I got a 4x8' sheet for insulating board and 3 smaller packages of foam. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Owens-Co...20WE/207179253 https://www.homedepot.com/p/3-4-in-x...0705/202090272 I plan on cutting the base to about 4x6. That will give me 2x4' to cut up along with the smaller packs of foam board. A hot wire cutter and a hot glue gun and I should be on my way. Being foam, it will be portable. The plan was to be able to take it to our club meetings in the bed of the truck. But the pandemic has other plans so no club meetings. I'll take plenty of pics as I go. |

Thats a good idea for the base and I really like the 3D printed terrain. I just started mine using foam board and junk piled up for the plaster cloth that comes in on thursday.

I was bored, had old filament that was going to be thrown out because it was scrap and not enough to finish print jobs. Always planned to cover with plaster cloth and make molds with them but haven’t as it works well and change it if I wanted to.

Kids and I have made a couple courses lately. They are intended for our 1/24 scalers and work best for those but they are ok with our 1/16 and 1/35 crawlers as well. https://imgur.com/a/xH5Rvk2 |

This looks great, did you use that plaster cloth? I just got some but haven't used it yet.

does it count as indoor if I only bring it inside on rainy days. Otherwise its stacked up as a modular course with 3 stories

I’ve also got a few pieces to an indoor course coming together. I researched this a bit and saw lots of people using plaster cloth, but that seemed a bit messy and could get heavy. I wanted to work with materials I had around the house, so I went for cardboard and paper mache. Everything came from the wastebasket except for a big bottle of white pva glue and 3 cans of spray paint. Supplies: Cardboard boxes, fruit baskets, packing paper. Paper grocery sacks(10-15 I think). Pool filter sand for texture. Spray paint. Total cost ~$25 so far. On the first piece, I used spray adhesive for the sand. I found that was not necessary and more mess than it was worth. For the second piece, I just went heavy on the paint and tossed sand into the wet paint, layering over it to bind it in. 2 shades of brown to try to get some depth, but theres room for aesthetic improvements.. The idea is to make modular tiles that can be reconfigured to switch up the course design. Perhaps someday I can find a box that is the right footprint for all of these to stack into for storage. Only 2 tiles so far, but id like to make 2 more to really build out the course. I've got a decent outdoor space too, so this is probably going to wait until the cool season again. Happy crawling! |

| Re: Show me your indoor Course build Thanks, it’s a Matco 5s, deep. Got a real good trade in on my first Snap On box and ordered this one custom with the hammered blue coat and silver trim. It’s kind of a color theme for me, such as my bicycles. I don’t wrench in a shop anymore, but I don’t plan to ever get rid of this box or it’s contents!

Here is my indoor course, 4x8 and I plan to hang it from the rafters in the building. Went a little crazy with it but it is sure fun to wheel. https://flic.kr/p/2mVko29 https://flic.kr/p/2mVj8R6 https://flic.kr/p/2mVko7z |
