| TAT's Micro Journey
In preps of the long coming winter boredom I've decided to jump into the micro crawler world in hopes to have small gatherings run trucks on my diy course. Building mobile terrain is new to be but with help from others I got a good start. Trucks: B17 on order but do to release being unknown, yesterday I ordered the yellow scx24 jeep. Course: I plan to build 3- 2x4 platforms that will match up to make a 4x6 micro terrain fun run. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk |

Nice, that looks awesome! Did you just use larger sheets of plaster cloth? Looks super good. |

Thanks guys, its been a fun project so far. Going to add another layer to some areas and then on to paint. While painting ill start my second section as painting will take time to do. I used rolls and just cut it to what I needed. 6 inches I found to work best. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk |

What exactly is plaster cloth? Is it just any cloth material dipped in plaster of paris or is there a specific type of cloth?

It's just plaster coated cloth, you can buy rolls of them from craft and hobby stores. ~10 dollars a roll from a brick and motar, 5-7 dollars online depending where you're shopping. I'm assuming USD for prices. Last edited by Turncoat Tony; 12-04-2020 at 10:02 AM. Reason: Spelling and grammar, it's early. | |

Bee jeep showed today so I ran a few laps. Its definitely a better rig then the borrowed micro but still was challenging to make the course. I'm excited to do more testing, make some changes and continue on my second part of the course. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk |

Course looks good with the yeller Jeep crawling on it. May I suggest that you order a emax servo for it. The one in my Jeep crapped out on the 2nd battery pack. That will also add a bit of weight over the axle. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine. Be very very careful the SCX24's have a way of multiplying. Started with the C10 now have one of each. |

Section 2: The Compound is laid out and ready for the next step. I feel it will be a nice section coming off the first cliff terrain to a flat man made course. ;) Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk |

Got to test the 2 section as 1 after work yesterday. Lots of fun was had and they linked together nicely. Some difficult spots that will test your skills and with the tight turns you have to plan ahead. Lots to do before finished but happy with how they work. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk |

That's an interesting layout you came up with, I like it. If you wet your fingers and rub over the plaster cloth while it's wet you can fill in alot of the voids where the cloth shows. I wet my cloth in a rubbermaid type container. I have also taken a 1" paint brush and used the liquid from wetting the cloth of cover spots where the cloth shows. Haven't tried this yet, you can get colored sanded grout at the hardware store. Mix it like paint, would add strength, texture, & color all at the same time. I'm thinking of trying it on the section on top of the frig.

They also make terrain molds for the cloth that are reusable to make rocks, hills, ect. And they have this wrap stuff that's almost like a fine grit sand paper that lays over what you want. I found it in the back of my LHS it's mainly sold for the train layout people but I think it would be a great use for micro courses as well. I'm planning on trying it out after Christmas.
