Default Back after a long absence

Hi, been out of the hobby for about 10 years. I still have 2 custom built 1/10 crawlers, been mothballed for a LONG time. I just bought an SCX24 C10. Been having fun with it, went a little crazy with building a course. Also have a lot of upgrades coming for the truck. Of course you can't have only 1 so I ordered an RGT V2. Here are some pics of the course.

More pics of the course, some additions. I also made gate markers from ping pong balls cut in half a d painted orange. More mods to the truck of course.

Great looking Course.
How did ya build it up?
Styrofoam and cement or Paper mache and paint?

Cardboard, spray foam, styrofoam, plaster cloth all covered with drywall mud and thinset. Added sand in the mixtures. I used what I had laying around. Painted with spraypaint and acrylics.

Holy smokes, it looks awesome! Welcome back to the community.
Gotcha, I tend to take brakes from R/C’s from time to time as well. Sometimes life and will or family take priority. I think we’ve all been there.

Your course looks very realistic!

Thank you! I have found that the plaster cloth and the dry wall mud work the best. I thinned the stuff until it was like thick paint and added sand, then brushed it on. I also found that cutting or grinding the foam to the shape you want helps the coating stick better. I have been patching chips with titebond glue with sand sprinkled on it, no more chipping after that.

I like the ping pong ball course markers. What size it it all together?
Oh and does the c10 actually make it up that vertical climb?

The base is 4x8 but I added about 8” on the back and one side. The C10 makes the climb. It would not stock. The log path side it will not make without the logs. Wanted some really hard sections so I have them.
