Default Flatbed Truck Hauler

After building my monster truck I was struck with the overwhelming desire to build a truck to haul it, as well as my other vehicles. I picked up one of the AMT Ford LNT Dump truck snow plow kits and it was the perfect platform for a flatbed. I was lucky enough to find it at Walmart for a very reasonable price. I actually wish I had bought two because this cab looks really good! I had to stretch the frame a lot, so I ended up combining 2 scx24 frames. But the frames done, cabs mounted, and body work has started. Now to start scratch building the flatbed.
Here’s some pics from mock-up to where she sits now.

Very nice!

The chassis looks familiar - it's two SCX24 chassis parts linked together, isn't it? That's a pretty neat idea Looking forward to the rest of the build!

Yep, that’s exactly what I did. The plan is to run dual motors and tranny’s. That way I’ll have the power to haul another truck. I also plan on running a dual battery setup since there’s plenty of room in this thing.

Thanks friend! You know this was all started when I was messing around with some of your wheels and decided the could work for monster truck trailering tires. The small ones they use for hauling. I already have a monster truck, so I figured I should have a rig to haul it.

Thanks, it’s nice to know I can impress someone! Not too much progress, I’ve been sidetracked with a corvette drifter project, but I did get some cool scale hubs for it! I promise I’ll get back on this one soon though. In the meantime here’s some pics of the hubs, and some flex shots.

Looks great.

Is there a build thread on the Vette somewhere? I'd like to see it also. I had a 1:1 '66 Vette many years ago.

I have a 1/24th 57 Chevy metal body I'd like to make an RC.

There’s no build thread on the Vette, yet. I might try to sneak one in though. Technically it is a micro scale rig, and it is 4 wheel drive! The body is a 1/25 scale ‘63 Corvette kit from AMT. and for the chassis I’m using a WLTOYS K989 1/28 scale rally car. The wheels and tires are an aftermarket drift setup. The chassis wheelbase fit perfectly, but the track width was a lot wider so I had to remove a lot of the fenders. So some wide body fender flares are definitely in order! I actually have 2 of these projects going. The ‘63 Corvette and a ‘72 Blazer.

Cool. Thanks for the info. I just ordered a WLToys 1/28 Drift truck 284131 and have been thinking about the K9** cars. I also have the Robby Gordan 1/14 WLToys Stadium Truck. WLToys stuff is pretty good for the price.

Still have a little upgrading to do on my SCX24's also. I love having projects....

Haven’t gotten a whole lot done on this one, but I did sort a few things out. I mounted a front bumper using the stock deadbolt bumper. I put a fair lead on it that I got from MGCrawler so I can mount a winch in the front. I also trimmed the fenders for tire clearance, and started mounting the gas tanks after stripping the chrome off. There will be no chrome on this one! Next is to mount the winch under the hood and figure out a solid mounting system for the cab. I guess I’m just working my way from the front to the back!

I’m slowly plugging away at this one. I was able to get a little bit more work done today. I got the cab screwed down and secured. You can see the under hood mounts in the first picture. I then got a “winch” mounted under the chassis. It’s just an I.D. pull badge I sandwich between two plates. While I was at it I also threw on some batteries on the side of the chassis. More scale parts from MGCrawler. Next on the list is some tool boxes on the sides to hide the batteries!
