Default FMS Atlas 6x6 motor?

So, I picked this up just 'cuz I think it's cool. (Obviously!)
Didn't know what to expect performance wise, but it ain't too bad for what it is.
Worst thing besides the god-awful screaming ESC, it runs out of torque before it runs out of traction!
Any suggestions for a better brushed motor you may have tried?
Don't want to go brushless, got that in my Deadbolt.
How about gearing? Suppose FCX24 portals would fit and get me lower gears?

fcx portals will fit, same deal as swapping any other fms 18th scale with the fcx portals. i can give you the parts list if you want

in mine i actually put an FCX24 2-speed(locked in low gear) running on an scx24 V1 esc. works pretty well, plenty of tq. haven't done the portal swap in my atlas yet but i've swapped a couple of my fms 18th scale trucks. one of these days i'll get to the 6x6

I've got an Atlas also. I like it but wish for a bit more speed. I don't know what a portal is yet, sorry. Is there a motor swap I could try? I keep buying RTR crawlers and decided it's time to try upgrading. I put a two speed motor combo in my WPL and it's fun enough. Needing some guidance and advise.

I’m currently turning my FMS Smasher into a crawler that will go fast too .It’s almost done I like the FCX platform . I like the old power wagons too . I need to look into this Atlas 6x6 . I going to need a new project in a few weeks .
