Default Thinking about building a 2.2 rig - advice?

Hi all,

Thinking about building a 2.2 rig. From everything I've read it seems like the axial is the best bet? Yes/no? I found one for $209 - anyplace cheaper?

Keep in mind I don't know much about radios: if I do get one I would probably want to get a new 3/4 ch pistol grip radio that I could use for both rigs. (Supposedly I can't easily get a additional receiver for current radio and it would have to be tuned if I did...) Any recomendations?

Thanks everyone,
David

I would go with the axial scorpion, or should I say have gone with the axial. My newest rig is an axial sccaler. As for radio That depends what you want to spend, I myself went with a TQ3 runs both of my rigs and there is no interferince from other radios.

The Axial is a good rig for 2.2. Stout axles and trans. I've heard people having problems with the screws stripping out on the beadlock rims, caps popping off the shocks, and the upper link mount on the axles popping out, but all of those have easy fixes. There are a lot of upgrades coming out for the AX10 right now too.

What radio are you using currently? I don't know why you wouldn't be able to get another receiver for it. But if you do have to get a new radio, I've had great luck with my DX3. I'll probably never go with anything other than spektrum again.

I'm using an Airtronics VG400 (2 stick) that I picked up cheap... I could only find a few places that sold additional receivers and everything I read said that it would have to be tuned with radio... I'll have to do some more research.

Thanks,

I think the hitec agressor radios are 3 channel that can run rear steer... I don't really know what 3 channel radios have a 3P switch though (three posiution)

Another dumb question:

Can these 3 ch pistol radios be used with a rig with front/rear steering? In another words, is there a switch or something that can be flipped to switch the steering between the two channels used for steering?

Thanks,
