Default MS Crawl 4 the Cure

http://www.crawl4cure.org/index.shtml

This year I will be taking part in the Crawl for the cure, which raises money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. This is a annual event held by a couple local clubs, which takes place at Gilbert. This will be the 4th year, and the first year I am going to it. Its hard to pass up a fun wheeling trip that helps people like Jack and Storm

Also Jack, and Storm, a couple of guys have suggested to invite you two up there. John Johnson who does most of the work for the event said that he can make sure you guys can even have a seat in one of the trail trucks. I am not sure how mobile you guys are, but let me know as they would love to have you there.

I'll also be taking donations at our comps for those who wish to contribute. Small or large donations, every bit counts. I'll be matching $1 for every $10 donated as well. I'll be taking donations right up until I leave for the event, so you have plenty of time to decide

I asked John about getting you two into rigs, and made sure the bathrooms were wheel chair accessible. The campgrounds bathroom is, and he has a wheel chair accessible porta potty near the event tent as well. His wife is actually in a electric wheel chair as well because of this disease, so he knows how to deal with it first hand. He would really like to see you guys up there too, I can PM you guys his number if you have any questions about it.

One of the Toyota guys has offered up seats in his FJ80 which has AC, and a electric fridge in back

Mike, What a wonderful thing I'm very impressed not only with your your involvement and commitment to be part of this event that supports MS but that your group would make room for us on the ride itself. That is just the best offer I've had for some 1:1 wheeling fun. It would be fun to hang with you and your wheeling buds by the campfire as well. I can only speak for myself but my condition and special care needs makes a trip of that nature a bit to difficult for me unfortunaty. It would be fun as I lived near there for almost 6 years. Thanks again for you and your clubs effort to find a cure I appreciate that very much. You have a PM Regards

Looks like I will be bringing the FJ40 up there

Here is my short to do list, higher priority stuff up top while things at the bottom don't need to be done...
-Reassemble SM465 transmission
-Reassemble Toyota 3 speed transfer case
-Install transmission and transfer case
-Reroute a few wires, and put loom over any exposed wires. Also need to lengthen a few.
-Reinstall CB radio, maybe buy a new one as I think the old one is shot?
-Weld in 2 support bars in the roll cage to add extra safety in case of a roll and give the bikini top more support when it gets rained on.
-Cut out lower rocker panels and weld something stronger in place of them.
-Install windshield wipers, and wire them.
-If money allows it, buy a set of Corbeaue baja seats amd install them.
-Weld up a cooler and gas tank rack.

I should be able to install the tranny and tcase next weekend if everything goes as planned. The wiring I want to do is simple and shouldn't take more then a day? The cage work is pretty straight forward as well, 2 pieces with 1 bend each.... Cut them to length and weld them in. For the rockers I need to run up to discount steel and see what they have for drop pieces that would work for what I have in mind. There are more things I am thinking about doing as well, but they are not as high on the priority list

Well, you got this Yota done yet? My Mall Crawler has been ready for a long time now. Can't wait to see how it does.

I could go this weekend if I had to.... But I have a few more small parts on order, which should be in Thursday. The front driver side motor mount is shot, so I ordered up a set of new front mounts which will be installed this weekend. I also ordered up a new parking brake cable, and throw out bearing. I forgot how much noise the throwout bearing was making before I pulled the tranny, and its bad. So I get to drain all the fluids again and drop the transfer case and transmission. The only good thing about this, is I need to redo a few of the seals which are leaking slightly. So thats the big stuff, I still have yet to touch any of the wiring other then the new rear tail lights. Also picked up the windshield wiper assembly, might install those this weekend as well? Will be nice to have just in case it rains while we are out on the trails.

Doesn't look like I will have a rear locker in time for this event though, fixing everything else up really ate up my funds. But even without a rear locker, this rig is very capable. And I am confident it will hold up now, after putting nearly 250 miles on it last week. I think I even hit 70mph last Saturday, hard to say for sure without the GPS in the rig, but the speedo which is off hit 65mph a few times Also finally figured out the gas millage, and it got just over 14mpg on the last tank.

Ohh and my shit would be done too if I payed a bunch of monkeys to do all the work for me

Well I was installing the new throwout bearing Saturday.... And tried to force the tranny back in, ended up breaking the clutch plate while doing so. With only 10 days to go, I am parking the FJ40 and now taking the truck instead. I need to rewire the CB and secure a few loose items, but for the most part it is ready to go. I also ordered up some tube doors from http://4xinnovations.com/pages/guarding/doors.htm I am going to weld on some tabs, and fasten lexan panels to keep the mud and branches out. Also going to look into welding some mounts for mirrors on them, nice to use the mirrors to see where your back tires are

not as many as you would think... when I do body work on it, I sand it down before painting

Doesn't look like I will have the new doors this week, they should be shipping out tomorrow. I am hoping they come in Monday, as I need to paint them up and mount them. Also want to fab some mirror mounts for them, so I can use them on and offroad.
