| Possible Crawling spot In Central MN ????
Your thoughts on this guys? What about Quarry park in St Cloud, MN. From the pictures on the park website looks like there is some real good spots and it's not far off of I-94 either. Here's the main page: http://www.co.stearns.mn.us/1450.htm here's the quarry list http://www.co.stearns.mn.us/3725.htm all the quarries are filled with water but there are tons of different rock formations around the water and what they call slag piles as well. The website has maps so you can also see where the quarries are located in the pack as well. It looks like the only down fall would be walking back into these areas. As far as crawling I don't think there would be an issue as there are mountain bike trails all over the park as well. Park permits are 4 or 5 bucks so no different than TF. I will try to get down there yet this fall for smoe pictures and to check out to see if it is do able. Park Map PDF link: http://www.co.stearns.mn.us/maps/Quarry_Park_summer.pdf Jason |

Also for groups larger than 50 people a permit is needed. One nice thing is that you could bring your family and if they don't want to watch crawling they can go swiming, Hiking, Biking , and other things even trout fishing. Jason |

I'm gonna try and get there maybe in the next weekend or two. This weekends out. I have to head to Fargo to visit and do some crawling with the boys up there. From the pictures on the site it looks like there are quite a few areas, rock types and other obstacles to work with. Jason |

The information is promising it would be great to hear the results of a recon of the park. Family friendly activities would be a bonus for sure. I would expect we might see 50-65 vehicles so parking will be crucial.

I talked with Kevin yesterday about some other stuff and he said he had looked at this as well. He did a quick google map run and it's pretty much the same amount of drive time to the Quarry park as it is to TF from his place. For me it's about 65 miles or so. I'll try to get there be fore the fall finals weekend and get some pictures to bring down with me so everyone can see what the palce is like. Jason |

It's supposed to be nice until maybe later on Sat. I may take a road trip to check it out. It would be awesome to find a decent location for a large regional comp |

That's the thing there is only one parking lot (Not sure of size) and it looks like a walk to any location just not sure how far yet. I plan on getting photo's if I can get down there and i'm hoping they have nice paved paths to the locations. We'll see. Jason |

| I'll speak for Jack and myself thanks tjb for thinking of us but don't worry about that if we can find a good location for a large group. It's going to be hard enough to find a decent crawl location with our group size. We don't want to end up crawling on a something that looks like a developer installed it to maintain erosions that would not have enough challenge. Jack and I will find something to do in the parking lot if our chairs can't make it to the crawl site. There's always people back at the cars working on their rigs anyway we can bother them.

We are leaving for Quarry park in a few minutes. I've got the crawler, TX'er, Camera and the wife. I'll put up pic's on Sunday. I have a wedding to go to tonight so that screws my time up a bit tonight. Best regards, Jason |

I hope it works out. I'm definitely not sick of crawling in TF, but it would be cool to have an alternate comp spot.

Well we made it back and I have like 130 pic's to sort thru. I will take a map and outline the areas we covered. The closest stuff is a five minute or less walk from the parking lot which has tons of space for parking. I need to resize the images to fit here but this place has a lot of potential. Be back Sunday with more. Jason Last edited by JAM MaxAmps.com; 09-27-2008 at 03:25 PM. |

Hey Jason great scouting job of this site. Most of the pics look like quarry run and must have been a bit difficult to crawl on. The natural areas don't look to bad was there enough size to those areas to set up a couple of nice courses?
