What the duece? I am in 4th thus far? Huh, guess I better pay attention then. Thanks for the update Pickle. Side note the 1.9 class is almost as dead as Supers. |

Part of the reason this way of scoring can screw you. Joe has won 2 comps, taken a second......and sits in 3rd place. Why, because he missed the easiest comp where the scores are the lowest. In theory, he could win the remaining comps, Gary loses to him by 5 points at each remaining comp and Gary would still win. How can someone win 4 comps, take a 2nd in 1 comp and lose the series? |

I gained a big lead in the spring series by being the only one to complete a course at a comp. I view it as lucky that my rig was set up to clear that specific gate. I don't think a driver should be rewarded with a possible series win for being the only driver to clear a course.

Link to my post with the full season spread sheets I posted up last time this came up, had to edit my post to get the images to show again. Series Scoring System Edit: Easy courses can go both ways too. Miss a easy course with the current system and you will take a hit on your score. But if you make the easy comp, and the points spread is very small, then you could take a 15th place finish and only be 20 points behind the guy who took first place. Both systems have their pro's and con's. But looking at the two spread sheets I posted, the points are much closer with the current system. Look at some of the very large point gaps, people had no chance of catching up. Last edited by Etype R; 09-08-2009 at 06:58 PM. |

It is a big risk to miss a comp. If it was for Nationals I would be concerned about the system. It really does go both ways. I do think every club should have to score the same way for nats, and it should be on a points by placement scoring. Just to reward the truly consistent drivers for nats. If its not a qualifying series then I could care less witch way it goes. But who knows what the future will bring the sport after some of the recent events.

Either show up and compete ALL the time or don't cry when you miss the EASY ones. Bad analogy on your part. Last edited by BigBaller; 09-09-2009 at 10:31 AM.
