| Sportsman class?
So whats the deal, anyone want to run them? If so, I would say you can only run one of the 2.2 classes. We don't need all the top drivers running in the sportsman class as well if it happens. Post up if you would run in this kind of class. |

I am not saying yes or no to it my self just yet. I do know I wouldn't run the class my self. The class might only have 6-10 trucks, which would lower the number of rigs in the standard class. Depending on numbers, we could run them one course at a time like we do the 1.9s and supers. Or we could have them share the standard 2.2 courses with some alternate gates, using Axial gates to define the sportsman gates. |

I'd like to see sportsman happen. Run the unlimiteds at the same time but share the supers course. Were leaving alot of locals behind with old school and/or low buck rigs. |

No dig, would be my main guess. I think there's been two good ideas posted already. I like the alt gate on the 2.2 course idea, as the pro running the super course. | |

Mike I'd like to hear more about the rules and standards for the purpose of some discussion plenty of time right now. I've seen lots of conversation regarding this subject lately so we wouldn't be the only group looking into a class like this so I'm sure there are some good ideas out there. Franky Rizzo had a thread and was working on some rules and had a open discussion and many good comments. It would also give many the option to get started or stay involved with in a competitive crawler class on a smaller budget. There is a ton of currently obsolete equipment just sitting on the sideline we drive ours. Makes good sense to me as long as the rules are done well and we have some buy in (real commitments) from members for 2010. |

I suppose there getting cheap enuf these days but I'd hate for the class to feel the need for top shelf radio gear

Kevin will have to chime up on the rules, its being added in as a official class by the USRCCA. As for the radio idea, thats just plain stupid to limit what radios one can use. My losi 1.9 came with a Spektrum radio, and I picked up my DX3 used for a good price with 2 receivers. And think about how many people who only own Spektrum radio gear these days, banning them would require buying new radio gear. |

I'd be concerned that if the class is super restricted it will not get any member support and becoming a non-starter.

I am a rookie with only 2 comps under my belt but I wouldn't mind having a 2.2 Sportsman class. It might not have alot of drivers in it right away but driving a different line for someone who isn't as skilled driver would be fun. Either way I will be back for spring 2010! Everyone was very kind and gave me alot of pointers for the winter. Thanks for having a great group of crawlers. -Josh |

Not that it matters much, but here are my thoughts on it.... I think they should have a Sportsman class, but run the same "course" as the regular 2.2's. Maybe have some alternate gates, but maybe have an 80 point limit instead of 40 points and/or have a longer time limit. We have enough problems finding judges as it is, to run another set of courses would be pretty difficult. Though not sure if we plan on running 1.9's and/or Supers still. I would suspect we would still run Supers, but I am sure that will be discussed. |

Why? Why go back into the past and limit rigs? We have advanced technology. Why add more classes to an already lengthy day (when alot of trucks actually show).>>>>> There are some long days already. Let's work on teaching newbies to Judge, score and understand the rules. THIS will promote the hobby best. We have a great group. No one has been turned away due to bad attitudes so why is it some are not comfortable to show? There rig isn't capable due to limited budget excuse is BS!! It doesn't matter if your rig is a RTR comp rig, you aren't ever going to come out and wipe up on the veterans. Really think about it...you are new and there to make new crawler friends and learn. Why can't the 1.9 guys be the Sportsman class?>>>>> It already has the limits, cheaper to compete, and best of all it fits in your pocket...almost. Why do we have to keep making this more work, less fun? >>>>> Let's run the 3 classes we have. Educate and volunteer more. Make this a GROUP effort and not just a few running the weekly routine. Ask yourself this question..."What did I do at the last comp to help out?" IF you don't fall into any of the 3 comp classes then PLEASE come out and support the local comp crawling crew. Once the comp is run and done. It's play time. Let's hang out and run what ya brung! The fun is what you make it. Not the rules. Last edited by BigBaller; 10-06-2009 at 09:44 PM. |

I really dont care if there is a sportsman class or not. I'll continue to run in the main 2.2 class.

If done right, it would not take much longer as the drivers in sportsman would not be running in pro. The sportsman drivers could also judge each other, and learn more.

I like the idea, but I would probibly run in the pro class, then I can see how i progress in skill level and how I rate with the big boys. I think you could run the same courses as the pros, the scores would be higher but so would the scores from the rest of the sportsman class... if we don't make courses that only MOA can complete we should be ok, other wise have a MOA class. After all is that not the complaint, moa are better, then let them run alone. |

Sure would be nice if we could have a class that looks like trucks instead of lunar rovers but that's just me
