Default just getting into rc rock crawling, need some insight

Hi, my name is Kris, 22 from Hibbing area. Looking to get into rc rock crawling more of just to screw around but might try to do competions once i get decent at it. Been looking on craigslist and ebay and sorta like the scaler look more then all out crawler. im looking at this one on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Believe it would be a good starting point but please lend your info.. I also just got a used emaxx that i know can be made into one but might keep it as is after i replace the speed controller. Thanks for any input.

That thing does look pretty sick and would be a really good start. I have actually looked at that exact truck a few times but do not have a need for another truck or the funds. As far as your emaxx goes, it can be turned into a crawler but not necessarily a good one. Leave it the way it is. If you don't pick up that AX-10 on ebay, get 30 posts, wait 30 days and look in the classifieds.

For $300 (or higher, depending on the flea bay ending bid) You can get into a losi LCC or new ax-10... Other than running gear / drivetrain, honestly that isn't worth it..

Keep that in mind and look around before you jump

also was looking at this
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

but dont think it would crawl any better then first one i listed. Also not sure i want to wait 30 days as sorta in spending mood now lol. Really like way scalers look and like to keep it looking like a jeep. Someone told me to look at the scx10 but what are bodies u can get to make it more scale looking? the land rover look just doesnt do it for me

hey kris, i just got into crawling not too long ago myself, and i got an ax10, cool, but not enought to satisfy my scale urge, so i finally went the best route, i started building my own, play with your emaxx and build it, you will love it all the more, look around and you can find some really nice chassis out there for the tamiya jeep wrangler body, then find your electronics, all you need is a servo, motor, and a receiver. there is so much more you can do when you build it yourself. to make mine more scale i got a new bright wrngler off ebay, cut everything off it, and saved the interior to put inside my tamiya wrangler, it fits perfectly and looks badass. i think you will be much happier if you go this route, rather than buying one just to replace everything anyway. tap these guys brains, they have tons of info up there just waiting to help you, and check out the scaler topics on here, lots of cool stuff in there! good luck!
