Aug 22nd Scaler Event

Who's in? I have some 'scale' gate markers we can setup some tough truck courses with. But we need to have it somewhere other than Taylors. Boom Site in Stillwater? Treck up to Duluth? What would you guys like to see?

***Update***

The GTG will be at the Boom Site in Stillwater. Click HERE for directions to the area. Once in the parking lot, you'll see a fence on the north side. At the west end of the fence are steps leading down to the beach as in the pic below:
http://www.mn-rcrc.com/photos/2010/0...ture%20002.jpg

At the bottom of the steps, take the path to the far left. After 50 feet or so, you will find rocks. This is the beginning of the trail. It continues down a water run-off towards the river. As you approach the beach, you will see more crawlable land to the left.

Some of us are going out there as early as 9:30am. If we're not in the parking lot when you arrive, follow the directions above and you'll find us on the rocks. We will probably be crawling till early or mid afternoon.

Been lacking the motivation to work on them, build or fix.

rex21 08-12-2010 06:28 AM

I'm in if its the boomsite, or somewhere close. I still haven't fixed mine from last time.

Whats the scale redneck fix to hold the bottom half of my bumper on?

Boomsite it is then. We will be in Duluth next month anyways, and we haven't been to Stillwater in a couple of years. I will take a drive out there today or tomorrow to make sure everything is alright.

Here's a map I put together for those who have never been to the Boomsite.

Aric and I checked out the Boom Site today. Everything looks good for us to scale there next week. The water is a bit higher than last time I was there, but it hasn't taken away from the location. Also note worthy is the amount of sand on the rocks. Traction is hiden here. Neither of us had scalers running, so we brought our 2.2's instead. But this is definitely more of a scaler spot than anything. Check it out...

Not rocks, but these roots will be a fun little area for the scalers.

Reworking my old AX10 comp rig for a scaler. Not sure if I am going to make all new frame rails or just bolt something to the stock chassis and trim the top of the chassis. Either way it will have a full length frame, bumpers, and a FJ40 body.

Nicklepimp 08-19-2010 06:24 AM

Just realized that I never posted a time. Let's start at 11am. Waking up early twice this month is enough for me.

BigBaller 08-19-2010 07:45 AM

11am? That means I gotta get up early on a non comp day. :flipoff:
