| What to buy? Yeti or Wraith?
Ok... I am totally undecided. What's everyone's thoughts... Looking for a new toy. Something that is a good mix of go fast and yet scale/crawler. Between a wraith (I have had many in the past) and a yeti (never had one) what one would you buy?

The Yeti will for sure be faster, but not much of a crawler with the open front diff. It makes a great trail rig though. I love my Yeti though, just upgrade the rear driveshaft. Traxxas parts 4951X and 4972x make a great cheap upgraded driveshaft. Just jave to ream the flats out of the shaft holes. |

Hey Mitch, I have built many wraith axle rigs and had 1 true wraith. The Yeti is so much dam fun I can't even describe. I bought the kit and planned several upgrades out of the gate to keep the durability high. Like I tell most people, if you drive it like a fast scaler, it'll last. If you drive it like a slash, you will break a lot of stuff. It's pretty heavy compared to a SCT so the same design philosophy doesn't hold up for the same kind of bashing. For going fast and jumping, it's awesome. Just don't expect to run into a curb at 25 mph and not break anything. For crawling, It's really just ok. Even if you lock the front diff you lose what little steering ability there is. Both have a slough of available upgrades so you can't really go wrong with either. |

Dana, I was looking at the kit version as well. Is it worth it (upgrade wise) vs the RTR? I have been looking at a few in the FS section that look promising. All truth be told, the kit would be ideal. I just need a good esc/motor as well and at that point... The RTR is a better deal. |

I had the motor esc already so it made my decision easy. Even without having those things I would have got the kit. The hd gear sets, universals, and trailing arm braces are worth it. Plus I would have put a sensored system in from the word go vs the RTR sensorless system. Other upgrades I made out of the box. Dlux front and rear modded diff housings Vanquish rear lockouts (cuz I had them) Hot racing rear locker Slw hubs f/r Strc steering rack Wheely king spider gears 1 million wt diff oil. Electronics: Traxxas Et3s Tekin 3500 kv Pro4HD Futaba 9157 Upgrades since: Strc motor plate Uc fab trailing arms Strc hub carriers Vanquish knuckles She's a blast to run on the trails now. The plastic knuckles did well until a really bad landing on one front tire. |
