Great meeting today guys! Thanks to everyone that came out. Its nice when you leave a club meeting feeling good. They don't always go like that. Lol. I think we have a great 2018 to look forward to!

Like Kevin Said, great meeting today. We covered a lot of topics and got some fresh input - thanks Jason, Michael, Brandon, Mark, and Randy for coming to your first meeting.

We are making some pretty big changes in the scale classes. All for the better of the club and the hobby.

Attendance:
Randy , Brandon, Michael, Aric, Kevin, Adam, Josh, Jason, Dana, Mike, Chuck, Mark

First up - Classes
Biggest change this year is that we are going to basically adopt SORRCA rules (class 2 and 3) for the scaler rig design and some other interesting changes.

http://sorrca.com/rules/2017Rules.pdf

Entry/Jr’s class/Test Course
  • 1 course per comp
  • Set up and let people practice/Play on it Try running gates
  • A chance for people to try out the Community rig with a club member watching to be sure it doesn't walk off. (for those of you that don't know, Baller donated a community scx10 deadbolt a couple years ago)
1.9 Trail is now Class 2 SORCCA equivalent
  • Sorrca design rules
  • Min 30 points
  • Bring the trucks back to scale sense
  • No knuckle weights just heavy knuckles allowed
  • Wheel weights ok
2.2 Trail is now Class 3 SORRCA equivalent
  • Scale tires that are over 5.75” by manufacturer are ok. Any cutnshut are 5.75 or less laying on their side.
  • Sorrca design rules
  • Make minimum scale points – Min 20
  • Heavy knuckles only, no knuckle weights
  • Wheel weights ok
  • Weight restriction on 4ws is removed
  • Dig is allowed per SORRCA class 3. You can only use 1 type of steering advantage (Dig / 4ws) per course. with the +5 penalty
For Both Scale classes -- Tech during test n tune. Bring in a sign off sheet with the tech that it’s meeting 30 or 20 scale depending on class
2.2 Pro/Mod (MOA) and 2.2 Sporty will be in 2018 and will follow USRCCA rules set
Scale Competition Rules
Time -- 7 minute trail courses

Winching -- Contained winch ONLY! – Community winch is gone
  • All regulars should have a winch of some sort if they want to winch
  • Land anchor required on truck (not in pocket)
  • Anchor to land or to another truck?
  • Winch point for really difficult areas.
  • Punisher pull rope counts as a winch
  • Driver places land anchor and cannot be held in place
  • Winching begins when tension is on rope/truck moves
  • If you stop winching and reposition the winch that counts as a second winch
  • Winching will still be Allowed on Bonus gates
4WS Penalty remains SORRCA = +5

Course Design
  • Scale course design
  • Scale design of the trucks will drive some design
Point out for Scale classes remains – 60 points

Lastly is inputs for the 2018 season. Schedule will resemble a lot of what we did in 2017. We are not going to schedule as many formal scale events. The MNRCC FB group does a great job of getting formal and informal trail runs out there.

8 Comp Season schedule
Locations
  • Chester bowl – great place but we have to reschedule or move if it rains
  • Rain plans. Course design is key. Need to design for wet conditions not dry
  • 5 at TF and 3 Duluth or Wi
  • Build an alternate date in
  • Sites to investigate
    • Interstate state park, Wi side.
    • Trollhagen, Dresser, Wi. Yellowrock run – Jason, then Aric and Adam.
Battle at the Border
  • A group from ND is planning to come
  • Normal comp but will be on a Saturday
  • Maybe incorporate more courses, to be figured out
Scale events
  • Howl Krawl
  • U4 races - At Chuck’s Home Course
    • 2 events
    • Trial race - Work on and test out the course
    • Organized race - multi-class day of racing
  • TTC - Two events in 2018
    • Spring TTC will be a "for fun" event we will try another location to give some variety
    • Fall TTC will be the big dog it has become at Phils place. Entry fees and purses. Some changes will be planned for the tank trap.
Again, thanks to everyone who came out. We will be posting up detailed rules soon. However you can't go wrong with the SORRCA rules set linked above.

Sorrca has a calculator on their site to help you get your truck up to spec.

SORRCA Points Calculator

A stock kit SCX10II Jeep with the roof rack, spare tire, a winch, pull pal, and working headlights comes in at 24 points.

Man you need to get on Facebook. I posted that calculator like 2 days ago lol.

Just busting your balls mike. I started to put up several rigs and their Scale points using the calculator. Bone stock though. Most do need to add on to get legal.

The traxxas trx4 and tf2 from RC4wd don’t really need anything.

DIego. The d rings would count as 1. But don’t be too worried. No one will be turned away if they are not at 30. Just if you want to be in the season points to win something you need to get There. As long as you’re making an effort you’re good to go.

Drop bed, metal front bumper and adding a winch gets my current 1.9 there!
