Default New Guy Question

I know Santa has an SCX 10 ll under the tree for me. I have no experience with scaling but I've wanted in for a while now. My question is as a new person with Christmas burning a large hole in my pocket book would it be ok to fit her with a Sidewinder 3 and a 1410 motor for now or better to tear the RTR bomber shelf queens ESC and Motor out and install it in the SCX?

I would put a AE5 and 27t axial motor in it. With a $10 off $50 coupon at Tower that gives you your motor and esc for $42.98

Buy yourself a Holmes Hobbies BRXL a decent rebuildable 30T-40T motor and be done with it. If you're going to crawl you'll be the happiest with a good brushed setup. If it's not fast enough for you, bump it up to 3s.
I've got around 15 ESC's and the 3 BRXL's hands down have the smoothest throttle and the best braking out of them all. Don't let the prices make your mind up for you. If it's cheap' you'll be replacing it with a better one.

Well said !! I picked a box of 35t gool, rebuildables for a song(6.50ea) throwaway motors for my MOA and BRMD (like the ) BRXL will give you all the crawling options you could want , using castle link to adjust Johns firmware, then later get a sweet hand wound pro motor you will always be happy.
