Probably just the 1/4" solid rod. Same stuff i made the front bumper and rear side bars out of. The truck is about 7-8lbs now. I figure to add about 1-2lbs of solid rod for the front cage and rear bed/cab. I am not really worried about the additional weight. I don't think it will be that bad. I will need to add a little stiffer springs up front soon.

Or could 1/4" brake line do it? To save some weight. Do they even make it in that size. I am using a 90amp wire welder for my welds. And can I wire weld the hollow brake line?, I am thinking no.

Yes, I believe so. I had two Hitec 645MG's and they wouldn't hold straight on turning climbs. That was before I added any metal or the cab. I figure when i get done it will be in the 9-10lbs range. The two 7955TG's seem to be plenty right now.

New bed area idea? Whadda y'all think? Opinions? It's the top of the Bruder garbage truck. It would really save me some time on fabbing up a bed area.

I can't decide right now. I would probably narrow up the bed rails to match the cargo/bed area and work the exo-cage into it as well.

Couple pictures from Ark/La/Miss comp this weekend. Short uphill climb video to come in the near future.

Thanks. I put my comp rig (5.1lbs), crawler bag (10lbs) and a chair on top of it at once and it didn't phase it! It's a hauling beast. No picture to show it though.

Ashton got a little video of it making a uphill climb. I'll post it once he edits it.

A little out of orderd but here are some pictures from last friday. Little shake down run before heading to MS for the Ark/La/Miss comp.

wicked!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the video! That track is jammin' too.

Bayou Point Hill is cool little climb. Didn't think it would do it, esp. in the rain/wet conditions.

I am contemplating a front bumper redo. And the bed area, i kinda like the garbage truck bed look..

Rebuilt the front end. Moved it up about 1/2" Cut off the headlight area on the cab.
This bumper/slider is 15oz! Yes, that is crappy welding. Had to stiffen up the front shocks.
Pictures with red wrench show bottomed out and full droop front end.

And a proportional diesel sound generator is in the mail. Thanks for the tip Sacco.

Thanks.

Front bumper/skid was loosely based on the first picture.

Second picture will be the rough idea for the cage. Just gotta think of a way to hinge it on the front so the cage will lift forward and I can get to the cab (edit, i just did).

Lights will probably be in the same location as the picture.

This... http://www.technobotsonline.com/dies...simulator.html will be here in a few days, if not tomorrow. I probably won't go the smoking route, as of now.
The sound generator is adjustable 3cy - 6cy diesel output!

That's a beeftastic skid plate I think you'll like the sound unit, a couple of guys here are running them. Speaker-box design/volume makes a big difference in the sound.

The skid/bumper is not pretty but it will work fine.

Tips or tricks? Or link? on the diesel generator.

I will probably be going with the bed configuration I have pictured above. So, there should be plenty of room to get it all in there and extra space.

On another note. I got the Technobots Diesel sound generator up and running this past weekend. Now just looking for the right speaker to make it sound right.

More weight up front on the "VCR on wheels" (quoting Fishmaxx).
Got some 1/4" ID 1/2" spacers, welded a 1/2" piece of 1/4" rod to the vertical cab rod. Instant hinge. Cab will mount to frame. Cut a 1" section out of the front bumper.

looking good! I got your last PM, if you hold on to those I'd appreciate it, it still might be a week or two before I can get them. I have a basic 8x8 articulated chassis designed, I just have to get me arse into gear and start gathering parts.
