Default Tatra 815 8x8 Dakar Truck

I am building a 8x8 Tatra 815 Dakar race support truck. I just started on the styrene.

Here's a 815 Tatra 8x8 that I saw in Czech:

Dakar Tatra(real deal!):

Project:

I have been saving parts for this build for a year, now I'm getting started!

Enjoy!

Thanks!

It's a summit trans that feeds an axial transmission that's working as a transfer case.

I notice it always comes in waves. Last year there was a few builds about this time of year, including some of mine.

Not a huge fan of these trucks, but love watching the art work. Looking good.

Update, still a long way to go. The cab has a holder for my Ipod so I can film in 720p.

Great work! I like the fact that you spent the time to get the curve of the body in there. Awesome build!

Hey guys,

I took a trip to the coast this weekend, snapped a few pictures, and few gears. I didn't get a chance to get very much video, the truck only lasted about 10 minutes. The idler gear in the axial trans was not up to the task of brushless power and eight wheel drive. I had a spare, and it didn't last any longer than the first.

Enjoy, I know I had such a blast for that 10minutes!

The problem:

I ordered a RR steel gear and a Vanquish aluminum trans case. A tekin t8 motor might have also found its way into the cart.

The truck still isn't done yet, but that didn't stop me from driving it.
